I have been favoring pistol over rifle lately due to many issues you are all painfully aware of. But last night, the perfect opportunity arose to let my laser rifle shine!

An imperial wtih an At-ST pet had taken up residence in the Coronet Starport. I found it odd that even with the large mass of purple dots that nobody was taking out the threat in the starport. After I ID'd the red dots and saw the AT-ST, I figured out why.

I let curiosity get the better of me and went in to check it out. It turns out that 1 overt with the AT-ST was in the bay of the starport. In retrospect, I guess he was most likely picking off people as they downloaded (grr). I assessed the situation and figured that I could use the bay doorway to my advantage. The AT-ST could not get into the area so I could take cover behind the wall, and I was pretty sure the Imp would not leave his toy to come after me.

So I took out my handy DX2 pistol and started a little hit and duck routine. The AT-ST never got a bead on me as I had hoped. But I had to stop and rest a minute because my action bar was going down goo fast. My DX-2 takes a lot of Action HAM. I noticed that he was healing up very quickly, and groaned that all that work was for nothing. As his health and action bars finished filling in full color, my eyes were drawn to the blue bar. It was still white on the end. He had apparently suffered some mind damage before, and took a little collarteral damage from when I ran out of action to do Bodyshot.

Once I healed up, I took out my laser rifle and tried the same technique. I led with a mind shot, and dove in and out of the doorway, timing my entrance with when my next shot would be firing. After a few rounds jumping in and out, I managed to incap him without ever getting hit by the AT-ST.

As I went over to the they Imp, the guy standing next to him said "Sorry. I can't help you with that." It turns out that he was a covert medic/CH keeping the Overt AT-ST controller alive. Score one for mind damage. He came back and I enlisted the aid of a BH friend to help me out and this time he went down faster.

There is more involving the medic/CH, killing a couple more and finally getting killed (5-1 isn't too bad a kill ratio) but the laser vs AT-ST is what really stood out.

Chivalry is not dead. It is just badly wounded. I think the same can be said of the Rifleman profession.

This is a great idea. The thing is the stupid devs are making it so you can't bleed ATSTs. But you can still heal them... makes a lot of sense.
