Thread: Effective & fast path to master.
I got this advice from another thread here but I feel it is worth repeating for anyone who wants to do it.
I was happy as a master commando with a pet. Then I got a holo and it said to master rifleman...

I'm a wookiee. I'm also a 3300CH & 4000 medic and kept the master marksman as well. I ditched the commando and skill point leeching brawler skills as I needed them for rifleman. I also have stat clothing that gives me +25 to medicine use. I have a hat, pads, waistwrap, and a smock that give me +25 to medicine use. My gloves are +15. This helps immensely when it comes to healing a large HAM pet. I also buy crates of high quality stim B's from a trusted doctor.
I thought I would hate it at first but it has proved to be far more effective than commando and a hell of a lot more fun.
SoI drop commando skills as needed to get novice rifleman. I had to grind a bit to get there because after hitting master marksman I never used rifles for anything.
Once there I went to the local gun shop and bought out his stock of frag grenades, then purchased a T21, Jawa Ion, and Tusken rifle as well as a spraystick and had them all sliced. Luckily, all of the slices were good ones. I already had a nice sliced laser rifle that I used up to that point. I even bought a few stacks of thermal detonators just for fun to use up while I still had the certification.
THE PATH TO MASTER
Find a nice hunting planet and prepare for some time alone in the wilderness. Hunt anything and everything to grind the xp. Doing missions for money helps but it takes longer. Having a pile of cash before starting helps in this respect.
Grind xp and get 1000 (sniping 1)
Then grind some more and go straight for 1030 (countersniping 3)
This gives you a nifty special that acts as a shotgun effect on groups of mobs. It is VERY effective if you have mobs surround a pet and then blast away. The special is costly HAM wise but you hit mutliple targets so try and get as many in a tight group as possible to make each special count.
All the while you should be lobbing grenades and everything to boost your combat xp for each kill. Do this from the very beginning. Combat xp is just a plain pain in the ass to grind but grenades make it easy. Also, play with all of you guns to get a feel for which ones are effective against certain mobs.
The next step is to finish out the first column 4030 and get theSniper title and the added accuracy this column provides.
Then go back and finish out the third column to get 4040.
At this point you should have enough combat xp to get the first couple boxes in the last column too.
Now you're at 4042.
From here on out its all grinding to fill the remaining boxes.
That's it!
Getting to 1030 was the tedious part. Once you have the shotgun special the xp flies. Make sure to use grenades constantly to raise your combat xp. The costs for the fourth column are worse for rifleman than they were for commando.
Hope this helps! Enjoy!
i used exactly that strategy, and was 30k combat xp short when i finished 4/4/4/3.
i used mindshot/warningshot/grenades on pikets for 2k-3k combat xp each to fill in the last 30k-- took me about 1-2 hours (and a crapload of grenades-- i missed ALOT of throws).
I am at 3 3 3 3 right now. I would agree with your strategy save one point. I would go:
1 0 0 x
and
1 1 0 x
then go
1 1 3 x
getting Concealshot before grinding the way up to x x 3 x. Yes, the big hitting AE shots are a big boon to our XP gains, but, when used right, the 150k XP spent getting Concealshot will help you get to those othershots or, if nothing else, it at least gives you more options than if you did not have it. Even if you did not go that route, then it is certainly more useful than Supriseshot (especially without Sneak), Snipershot (unless you are doing a lot of PvP), or Startleshot2.
I would also agree that the Rifle Special Abilities line will pretty much take care of itselfas you are going up. By the time you get to 4 4 4 x, you will be most of the way through that line anyway. However, I would advise doing some grinding of combat XP using mind bleeds and grenades to speed up the acquisition of Flurryshot1, especially if you are going to be shooting NPCs. The Dizzy effect is our only knockdown effect; therefore, it is worth giving up some rifle XP to get this a little quicker. After that, I would let the Combat XP accumulate on its own while I grind Rifle XP.
