Thread: Issue with Conceal Shot...

I did not have an issue with a bleed, but then I was not looking for it, so it could have happened, but I did have something similar happen two or threetimes this weekend.

In my case, I was out at around 60m, started shooting, and the target wandered out of range. I had to stop and relocate, then start shooting again. I missed once, and the target aggroed on me. Ina similar situation, I had the target and its friend aggro on me while using concealshot. I think it happened one other time like that as well.

Inthese cases, I believe I did have to stop shooting then move into position again because the target moved out of range. I suspected that what was happening was that it counted the stopping and restarting of combat as a miss. However before migrating my mind stats and switching to a lower HAM T21, I frequently had to stop midway through a concealshot assault on a highend MOB to regen mind. This never triggered an aggro before, but it really looked to me like that was what was happening. In one case, I had to go through 3 muon golds to kill the target, so I know I stopped at least twice, more times to keep in range, if I recall.

Greets all. I have had two interesting experiences with Conceal Shot this weekend.

I was using Conceal Shot to take out a force user on Dntooine (medium armor, 15k HAM, 80% resists) from about 60m away in a prone or kneeling position, when the target started to attack me. I had not missed with any of my shots and no one else was attacking the target. The interesting thing that happened was that during the course of shooting the target, I had managed to land a bleed on it. It was not a mind bleed and as far as I could tell it was draining health. In one case, I stopped attacking to let my mind regen, and noticed the bleed. the bleed effect triggered and the npc attacked.

Now I know I did not accidentally initiate a different type of attack (checked my combat logs), and we obviously do not bleed health. Has anyone encountered this? Is it a bug, or just a way for the target to react to your attack?

this has happened to me before too, always with high level npcs and the occasional rancor inside 64m. i never noticed a bleed however.

for some reason singing mountain clan dragoons seem to always 'see' me when i concealshot them. usually mobs move when you hit them or get in range but for some reason dragoons always seem to move straight at me... it's the oddest thing.

Are you using a dropped rifle? I currently use a droppedSG82 I got off a Dark Storm Tropper that has a 74pt 82 sec duration health bleed on it for group situations. Check the rifle you are using with no power up on it, if the name still appears yellow then it has a special on it that may bleed the target.

Yeah, I've had this happen to me a few times before.

I finally came to the conclusion that it was silly to use conceal shot on 80% resist FS mobs.

What Ido now isstart off bystacking mindshot 1/2, then use flurryshot1 a few times in case the guy wants to go prone for me (common occurance!), then burst run /kite away.

It also helps to pop a muon or thruster head before doing that. PSGs and armor can help a lot, too.

Erdraug, I only wish I had a rifle drop. Amend that, a decent rifle drop. All I get are these DLT20s with mini-poison 5 point attacks and like 10-39 regular damage damage

The first time this happened was with an npc who always walked out of range as I began using Conceal Shot, so I constantly had to relocate. However the second time it happed was with an npc who remained fixed in place. There I was, plinking away, when I looked over and noticed the bleed symbol. I thought, "That's interesting," then in that split second the target warped, shoved his fist through my head and went squishy with the brain

I rotted there for a while, watching the scum as he danced on my corpse. The bleed pulsed twice, then stopped. Nothing in the combat logs to record the damage, and no one else was around to lay a health bleed on (in retrospect, I think the target would have attacked the other person as the one who laid down the attack, unless of course he bled and ran...)

Anyways, just consider this a warning to monitor your target's state status while using Conceal Shot. When you see that bleed symbol come up, goto kiting because the Conceal Shot jig will be up.

As a TKM I noticed this too. Occassionally I would cause a minor bleed. I think it's a function of how much damage you do. Over a certain amount and there is a chance you will bleed the target.

I've had this exact senario occur, but using conceal shot I got a dizzy. I check my logs and I didn't use flurry by accident, I just figured it was a bug.

I have had this happen twice now, once with a Greater Plains Hunter (basically a GSP) and once with a Mamien. Both times I was spamming Conceal Shot, and did not use any other specials. And out of nowhere, a bleed appeared on the critter. And once it kicked in, they aggroed (fatally, in the case of the Greater Plains Hunter).

Dunno what causes it, but you're not the only one.

Agreed. I think this is something that's been put in deliberately in order to counter some exploit or maybe just to balance conceal shot now that it works so well.

I was shocked when I first saw the bleed and wondered how it got there, wjem I noticed it was just a one point bleed I figured this was the case. However, I think I've also seen the bleed appear with a different shot too but I'd have to confirm that.

In any event, it's good to be kept on your toes!

I actually like it, it along with misses and moving targets keep concealshot from being the "spam and go get a cup of coffee" uber shot some are complaining about. Have had it happen several times, just a 1 point bleed, enough to get the bad guys attention. Keeps your focus on the target, which is what a rifleman should be doing.
