Thread: Muon Gold a necessity at master level?
I decided to take the skill point plunge into master rifle, and I've noticed that my mind drains way too fast when using Strafe Shot 2. Is Muon Gold a necessity at this point? I bought about 4 crates of 25, and can do two high paying missions within the 10 minute spice timer. I don't really mind spicing up, but I just want to know if there's another way.
i have to use it. also use glazed glucose pate. i have my stats max'd for a zabrak at 500/900/1000.
fyi: i use a laser, jacked for damage. and, a musician buff alone (buffing focus and willpower 2x) is NOT enough to allow me to spam SS2 at full speed.
Food is great, but unless you are human with maxed second stats if won't help too much. It's a nice bonus though, if you can afford it, go for it. Every bit helps.
Musician buffs are your best friend. However, since Master Musicians are hardly found outside the big cantinas, this will most often involve 1 or 2 shuttle trips, waiting in line till the Master Musician has time for you, waiting 8 minutes till the buff sticks, and taking 1 or 2 shuttles back. And of course, as soon as you die, you have to do it all over again. The buff is pretty handy, but it's an awful long time you need to invest to get it. It's not as easy as doctor buffs. Note that you will want Musician buffs. A buff from a Master Dancer will double you mind, giving you double the time till your have to rest, but double the time till you recover. Both would be best of course, but IMHO it's not worth waiting 8 minutes for it when you can get a Musician buff.
So, in most cases, spices are the only way to be effective as a Rifleman. This of course means you will be effective for about 10 minutes, and then have to rest for the downer. It's not very convinient, you have to pay good attention to when the buff wears out so you are not fighting at that time, and they can be quite expensive, which hurt with the latest mission nerf.
To sum up, Rifleman have to use the worst buff (in terms of availability and time it takes to get it) or drugs. Everything else, and you loose a LOT of your potential by either using a low HAM/low damage weapon or by shooting 10 times and than watching your pet/group finish the MOB of.
Note: This may not apply to Human characters, the new uber-everything race.

Are you sure it's not 1000/500/900? At least that's my maximum stats as a zabrak...
Well speaking as a master riflemen Wookiee what I normally do is use a lot of autofire. Then again I rarely hunt outside of a group anymore. We do missions for money to fund the city or hunting for hide, bone, and meat. The little things we need.
When I need to spam specials, Breath of Heaven, Bought a crate of it, my second. Another good foo is Ryscyate or whatever, cuts your Strength down but gives youa nice wllpower bonus. They don't last very long, but they work. Most targets don't last long anyway. When you really ned it, moun. Got three crates. But I have a master Smuggler in my guild and I alos know other places to get it cheap. Make friends, get in a PA, there are many ways to get it cheap. when on Moun, I'm a freaking god, but that doesn't last that long.
Also, don't use it all the time, only when you need it. Using it all the time means downers when you don't need want them and you're up when you don't need to be. Pick and choose, how we work.
I'm a Trandoshan master rifleman, and if i don't get buffed from a dancer/musician , then i can't last more than about 7 specials till my mind pool is empty... unless i switch to a weaker gun.... or pop a moun... and i have all my mind pools maxed out , they just don't get that big for a lizard, ya know? so ya i'd say in response to the original question i do drugs, heavy amounts of drugs....
vysxi (tarq we still have no T21)
I thinka MRM needs either spices, food or musician buffs to do well over extended periods of time.
However I'm starting to see the value of overchargeshot1, it uses action and has a 2.5x damage multiplier. A word of warning; it also damages your gun, so if you can't afford to keep replacing weapons or don't have a lot of speed sliced rifles you don't want then it might not be the best skill for you.
