Why. Especially if the laser rifle can shoot out beams of light and heat wouldn't it be one of the fastest weapons around? Just wondering

game balance.

Well due to the amount of damage it outputs, they can not be shooting every second, just wait till you're master, then you'll be shooting at that rate. If we could be shooting that fast at novice rifleman, all the pistoleers would be rifleman

yeah. And if u think about it wouldn't shooting a laser rifle that fast melt the gun?

I believe that it was for balence. Then again I suppose that pistols that shoot farther than rifles are balenced as well. I'm not sure how, but it must make sence to sombody as SOE

dont forget the combat medics throwing disease at up to 70+ meters.

Laser rifles shoot once per second with specials at master. This is why you maser rifle. Don't dabble and expect anything close to what a master can do. For those mastering marksman, use a spray stick.

With 140 skill points put into the rifle, you can shoot 1 shot a second almost all the time.

Like to use BH arguments sometimes.

Master rifle then see if you think its slow.

To clarify and elaborate ...

Rifles are slow because amidst the sea of pistol and carbine dabblers, one-line so-called bounty hunters, and people who shoot like a smuggler, but don't do anything else like one, they wanted to have one profession that you just couldn't dabble in.

So they took the last +20 speed that would make or break the profession, and put it in the master box.

Speaking realisticly the reason rifles are so slow is because of the relatively high damage they do. If you could drive fire a T21 in the game it would eventualy start to overheat and stop working/melt/explode.

The reason why Riflespeed is slow is because your a newb

Really it is, as you master rifleman speed is cut down dramatically.

Rifle is the one weapon where you must master it to be good with it, another reason why I like the rifle best.
