Thread: Sniper shot should do something to live targets

I got to thinking about my title last night (Sniper). Isn't the whole idea ofa sniper "One shot, One kill"? I think sniper shot should work on live targets as an absolutely massive damage headshot. It would have the ability to kill in one shot, but completely zap your mind to one, maybe even wound it. This way it would really be for eliminating that one key target from long range, like a snipers job is. I also strongly agree with Snoopbacca's idea about craftable foxhole camps that hide you from the radar, or maybe make it in the form of ghillie suits (those things that are made to look like a clump of leaves that snipers wear) that rifleman can make out of harvested resources. As you go farther up the concealment tree you should unlock more successful ghillie suits that would make you less dectable. I think that by making the sniper shot have massive mind reprecussions, and only executbale from under a ghillie suit or in a foxhole camp, would effictively balance so that it wouldn't be used to grief players over and over. Please respond i would like to know what you think.

I think I read somewhere that the Devs have said no to "invisible people on radar". But who knows how firm their stance is on that..


I don't know about that sniper shot though... .you'd only use it in 1 on 1 situations, since then someone just has to crap in your general direction to kill you. But it all depends on how the feel about invisible people.

I think we are all gonna have to accept the fact that riflemen are never gonna be snipers, not with the current game mechanics. It sucks, I wanted to bea sniper at first, but a machine gunner killing your target and 2-4 of its closest friends works for me

Snipershot does do something to non-incap people. 50 points damage, and I believe it is random pool.


If you want a hard-hitting single-target shot, you're looking for suprise shot. Personally, I think that it should be boosted up to 5x damage, with an equal percent increase in speed.

Just looked it up. Suprise shot is at 3x dmg, 3x speed. IMHO, it should be either 4.5x dmg, 4.5 speed or 5.0x dmg, 5.0x speed.

yep, a lot of us asked for that as one of our "top 5 (20)" issues - Ob194..


hopefully they give it to us.


personally, i love snipershot just the way it is. high dmg single target shot (surprise but better) is still missing.

I get a kick out of the Devs idea of a SniperShot. A sniper is so accurate he can only hit and kill an unconcious target.

decided to venture to my old world and see what's up on the boards here.


Oh man, I think the foxhole thing is cool, make us work to conceal ourselves, possibly having to connect with a Ranger and get conceal kits from them to use as a subcomponent. I don't know, make it difficult to get, so they aren't used for everything, but then, you can have a sniper set up in a field and say 40% of the time a special shot would break cover(from fox hole), or something like that. That way, the sniper would take a shot, jump up, relocate and take another, or something. It would be really interesting to add something like that to agame. But... Rifleman aren't snipers, they just gave that title out...

I suggested this too at one point (when we were being asked about Top 5 Rifleman Issues I think). At the time, I was about 3/4 of the way through the Rifleman tree. Now that I'm Master Rifleman, I LOVE Snipershot.


Since I'm Master now, I have no need to do the grind thing anymore and found myself drawn to PvP. Snipershot is great, especially in small squad clashes. In massively large groups, I sometimes find that another player on my side has DB'd the target before I can (even with Snipershot). But it's still a god-send because it allows us to gain faction (and satisfaction) through DBs without having to run out onto the field.


I'd like to see us gain a single, powerful attack (in addition to one of the AoE, powerful attacks we have now). But I don't want to see Snipershot go away.
