Question ! do you guys wear armor? sheesh

Granted im relatively noob, Im considering going the rifleman way, and hearing that some people drop their Health/Action so low, does this cause you problems?

I Mastered Marksman and Creature Handler, and finishing up Scout before I really jump head first into rifleman tree and have to ditch stuff.

In starting the game, I followed a friends recommendation on buying a suit of Advanced Composite armor. Even after some tinkering around with stat migration and some pretty nice encumberance slices, I don't feel comfortable wearing the full suit due to encumberances, but cant imagine going with out the protection because it's saved my arse more often than not.

I guess my question is, as a human who'll probably stick with Master CH/Rifleman for most combat purposes, what offers me the best protection/performance over all?

Admittedly, I don't like PvP much, because honestly, since starting playing, all my PvP experienes have been negative (very).

After reading a few other posts in the forum, I realize that I was uninformed about a lot of stuff surrounding specials etc.. so being informed ill help Im sure.

Sigh, ramblings of a newb, hepl!

Here's a few tips from a Master Fish.

I do pretty much 99% PvE. At my current level, prepatch, I can solo just about all content In-Game, with the proper precautions. If you plan on doing some of the higher lvl stuff, dump into your mind pool. Buy buffs for Health/Action. That being done, wear the Armor. As a human, you will have 1100 in you secondary mind pools, so you need not worry about that. Most Adv. Comp has a total encumbrance of 650-700, from my experiences.

Learn to love Drugs and Food. Muon Gold, Cor. Ice Cream and Ice Blaster all became your new best friend. Blaster/Ice Cream give around 400 to Willpower/Focus, respectively for around 8-9 minutes. Muon is good for 500 to all 3 pools for 10 minutes.. but then there is the 3 minute downer where you lose 500 from all three pools.

This early on, you can do 1 of 2 things. Get rifles with speed slices and dump them as your speed increases, or get damage slices and use a speed/mind cost powerup. Either way, make sure that the second stat on the pup is for mind cost. It helps, even if only a little.

Start with a DLT20, then move into a Laser at Rifles 2. This will serve you well until you get Novice Riflman. At this point, don't sweat the T21, it's truly a Master's toy, as only they have the speed to wield it effectively. Get yourself a LasRifle, an E11, a SG82, and a Jawa Ion Rifle. Get them all Damage sliced. Go out, pick up crates of pups. go for speed/mind cost at this point, damage slice the rifles.

For climbing Trees, I'd recommend Sniping, then Counter-Sniping. Finish up concealment, adn once you are done with those, you should be around 4443 with 15k combat XP for Master. Your pets will make this much easier than normal, as you can run around on Dantooine and kill everything in site with relative ease, and make a good amount of money while you are at it. For that last bit of Combat XP, should you need it, get a crate of C12s from the cheapest weaponsmith around. Run around Dantooine some more, tanking your pets, bleeding the target, and chucking 'nades at it. DO NOT USE A RIFLE! Doing this will get you all combat XP.

Have Fun!

concentrate on mastering rifleman - you will master scout along the way. (the only thing you will have to actually take time to do is camping xp - i hear you can get camping xp just by crafting them, dunno if that's true). harvest everything you kill, use mask scent all the time, throw traps at everything! (this will also help your combat xp). you'll master scout in no time -

yes, they changed the exp gained from Artisan to Survival exp. Camps, Traps and Camo Kits for Rangers now give Survival Exp.

The only reason I planned on doing scout and getting it out of the way is because I only have 11skill points left, and the last box of scouting (survival 4) and master = 11 on the head.

I'll eventually drop all scout except what I need to keep for Creature Handler.

I only recently began to wear armor, but I do not wear it all the time. I bought a composite helmet, chest plate, and boots. The chest piece and boots have kenetic and electrical special protections. The helmet is krayt enhanced, and all pieces were builtto emphasizelow encumbrances over other attributes. The armorsmith I worked with on these pieces builds multiple pieces and slices them to geta set withspecs you request. For instance, the mind encumbrance on the helm is only 190. By contrast, my son has a set builtfor higher protectionsand the helm has a mind encumbrance of 290. Big difference.

My stats are migrated to something like Mind 850, Focus 850, Willpower 650, Health and Action 700 and their secondaries at 400. Those may not be the exact numbers, but it should be close.

I also have novice medic and a few point invested in the diagnostics line. And I mainly play PvE, but I am going to get more involved in PvP more in the future.

Since I have medic, I generally do not start out with the armor on unless I know they are a particularly high level Mob. If I start taking hits, I pop stims, and if they are particularly hard hits (i.e., it looks like it is more than I can handle), I equip the armor (have a macro for this), and I pop muon gold. If it is a high enough level Mob where I expect to get hit hard, I will equip the armor and take muon gold from the beginning.

Also, whether you have armor or not, get some personal shield generators (PSGs). A PSG is much more fragile, and is not comparable to a full set of armor, but they will give you someextra protection. The ones I use do 13% to resistances and 51% for energy. But the main benefit is that they do this without any encombrances.

I wear full composite, except for gloves. It's all sliced for encumbrance. My helmet is on it's own hotkey in my combat toolbar. I normally fight without my helmet, but have it one keypress away if I need it.

I can climb into my armor without buffs, although the resists are not top of the line (about 50-60%)

Thanks for the reply!

I dun have to worry about rifle1-4

Currently Novice Rifleman(1/1/0/Enough Combat Exp to train1), but before I go further into rifleman, gonna go ahead and finish up scout just incase. Not chasing holo/jedi, but not ignorant to it either, so may as well master starting profession
