Thread: someone please define kiting
the tactic is called kiting, because metaphorically it resembles flying a kite on a string.
what it basically comes down to, is having the ability to, and learning well how to use it, to kill mobs at long range while moving without the mobs touching you. you achieve this by keeping the mob/target at medium to long range so you can shoot it while it cant hit you and retaining its agro on you so it doesnt run away.
BTW, pistols are best kiting weapons in this game because they fire fast and get bonus to fire (or negated penalty) while moving. rifles are best for sniping. playing pistoleer reminds me most of playing a bard from EQ, not druid as someone put it, and playing rifleman reminds me of plaing a hunter from DoAC. the 2 are fundimentally and completely different tactically and style wise and are meant for different players, unless of course you like/dislike both equally.
carbines are also better choice hen rifle to kite with, because you can slow the targets movement down thus making it real easy to control the distance between it and you.
rifle is mostly a kill from stationary concealed position kind of weapon, but once you get detected, unlike the other 2 ranged weapons, you often end up at the reclaim terminal. keep that in mind.

Kit'ing
It evolved into Kiteing with a little ignorant imagination. No offense, heck im ignorant to most abbreviations 90% of the time
God I hate abbreviations without a comprehensive glossary, leads to such misinformation.
