Thread: Rifle experience advice column
So here's a question for the group. Just last night I nabbed Expert Rifle (still a young 'un, I know), and I'm feeling very overwhelmed by the 70,000 points of exp that I need for Rifle Specialist. I've been having a good time soloing, thus far (not a single death!), but I'm worried that soloing might not be the best way to boost my rifle exp.
I was reading some suggestions on the Marksmen board about taking on Meatlumps outside Coronet by the handful and making nigh on 12K per hour, but that certainly won't work for riflemen. Can everyone who has made Riflemen (whatever level) post here how they did it and where they hunted?
There are plenty of threads already explaining how to get good rifle xp. Just browse through all of the treads in the rifleman section here. You'll also get some good tips and advice.
Check out the thread entitled:
" 30k exp in 10 mins!?!"
Hey there! Im a Rifle Specialist on the Gorath server and the problem with most of the posts have to deal with stuff like Mindshot which you don't get until Specialist. Plus, most of the other people seem to have really nice weapons like Laser Rifles. Ill give you some tips that helped me get to Rifle Specialist but first here is my setup/char.
Marksmen
Rifle Specialist / Pistol Expert / Ranged Weapon Support Expert
Scout
Exploration III
Weapon
DLT20a 105 - 168 Speed 6.6 (Its sliced)
Heres what I did to get to where I'm at.
1) Make sure and have a backup weapon in case you miss. It does happen and you don't want to count on Burst Run to get you out. I chose pistol because I am going for Commando later on so I need Master Marksman. Choose something that will compliment your final build.
2) Scout(Exploration) is very very helpfull. Terrain negotiation is immensly helpfull for getting aroundand for sneaking up on stuff you want to kill. I think this is a must for Rifleman but your mileage may vary.
3) Always look for a better rifle. People make them all the time and put them on the bazaar for cheap. My first DLT20a really sucked but it was the first one I found. It was much better than my CDEF Rifle.
Now for what I did for exp. There are tons and tons of places that you can do this, these are just the places I did mine. Find a newbie area outside most cities on starting planets. The two plaes I used were Kor Vella on Correlia and Theed on Naboo. I liked Theed just a bit better as the mobs were easier and occasionally you could get a harder mob to practice on (Like Fanned Rawls). If you have a high damage CDEF rifle with a low speed this works even better. The creatures in these areas hardly ever group together and shot be one shot insta kills.
Usually, I would come across 5 or so in the same area and would give 80 - 115 exp per kill. So in 45 seconds or so I would get 450 exp on average. Then you jump up, skin them if you are going scout and run on to the next group. Figure maybe 2 minutes per 500 exp thats up to 15k exp an hour. And all with hardly any chance to die at all.
Once you get Mindshot and Warningshot things get a lot different. Then you can look in other threads for good tips on hunting lots of different creatures.
Hope this helps you!
Chris
You can always find slower mobs that you can kite. (Run away from without them catching you) Or lower HP higher conned mobs. Theres quite a few of these. I did Ferals Banthas on Tat, until Novice Rifle. Grouped it was 1100 XP, and I 3 shot them with HS2. Hant done them sicne though, Im thinknig XP is probably 800, and 2 shot with HS3.
Visit that thread, and it says most of the slow mbos you can kite.

find things that run slower than you (there is a thread for this somewhere..think it's in game guides) on rori, that's everything that looks like a rabbit of some sort. Get a bunch of them chasing you and run circles around them. mind shot each of them onnce and do head shots one at a time. when mind shot dies, re-ding them with it and repeat. If I can find the spawns, I can get about 15-20k an hour doing this.
