Bla Bla Bla, i bought a DLT20a. I like the damage, but i don't like the range.

If something gets within 30 meters or so of me, i can't do any special moves until it's at point blank, and even then, it's at a -50 modifyer.

Anyone have any reccomendations of a different weapon ?

..... One client - a 21-year-old college student - stopped going to class within eight weeks after he started playing EverQuest his senior year....
.....After playing the game for 36 hours straight, he had a psychotic break because of sleep deprivation..."

Are we supposed to be surprised ?

I also use a DLT20a as my main rifle. You have a few choices when something closes on you.

If you are usually facing something that has very little mind pool left by the time it gets to you, try switching to a CDEF. It's generally faster, and allows you to do the headshots with a +10 modifier while kneeling. You get more rifle xp, but you also take heavy damage.

The other option is 2h sword. Starting at the advanced level, you get /headhit, again beating on the same pool. You get2H swordinstead of rifle xp, but odds are you'll finish off the mob easier then with a CDEF. You also take far less melee damage.

I was using the CDEF option, but I've switched to 2H sword. With the new information coming out on the macro abilities I can use one buttonon my rifle toolbar to equip my melee weapon and 2h accuracy gloves, stand, throw an anti-meleetrap, and switch to mymelee toolbar. I have a button on my melee toolbar to reverse the process. Seethe Game Guides thread for more info: http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=game_guides&message.id=17597

The other option is to switch to pistol, also better at short range, but now you are working on either health or waiting for a random mind hit. This should be your last choice IMO.

Naturally this works the same for all weapons, do to Rifles slow speed, and you will get -50 on all weapons, since most rifles have a very high ideal range.

Switching to a CDEf wont help, sinceyou get the timer of the previous weapon before you can shoot again. If i know the mob is gonna get to me, I use a fast weapon first, and switch to a higher dmg weapon, since I will be able to et a shot off faster.

Your best bet is to get it sliced, and hope for speed. My DLT20a is at 4.2 speed 157 dmg. You can also use AIM at closer range.

Spraysticks have a low ideal range, mine is 30. Perhaps that'll help you, plus it's delay is 2.2. Specials will cost a lot if you spam them since there is basically no time between shots to regen.

***Maybe this isn't the game for YOU. Perhaps you should look into The Sims Online.***

dont forget to use powerups, some are real nice and give like 25% + range bonusses and otehr abilities as well. i always use those and carry a bagfull with me, makes all teh difference.

DL20 has its palce as it uses mainly actionpool instead of mindpool. which gives it its definite niche as in future you will end up switching between the 2 while in longer lasting fights.
