I know its not SWG, but I know my fellow SWG players here can help me out. Im thinking of going back in the military, Ive been out for 6 years now and I was wondering how the life in the army is now? Family life, housing, benefits, and the job in general. Im going to go back in as part of the Military Police Corp. I was prior infantryman, then ranger. With all this going on and our soldiers losing their lives, I feel it is my duty as an american. All input is appreciated, thx.

But I get the feeling they don't care.

I got contract for MP and first duty station will be hawaii. I told them there was no way that I will go back in as a ranger now that I have a family, they said they couldnt do it, I said bye. They called back and said they can meet all my needs.

My questions are, how much deployment (months), I will get E-5 back, but I sent my packet in and got accepted to be a WO. Should I take the WO or go in as a MP? My goal is to work in CID, but can I do that as a WO? Of course I dont trust a recruiter so I sought u guys out for help. Ive been out of the loop awhile now. I would like it if u all could tell me what your MOS is and how the job satifaction and family life is. Thx guys.

I miss the Army every single day. Did my first 6 years, got out for a few and went back to the reserves for another 6. Unfortunately, I'm to old now to re-enlist and go back to active duty or I likely would.

A great place to get info on the military and specific answers to any questions you might have (the help on the forums is absolutely fantastic!) would be the About military pages, Here's a link for you

I did 5 years in the army, got out and got smart. I joined the Coast Guard . Same pay, same benefits, no spending years in Korea and Panama away from my family. I do miss going to the field though, I used to love going to the field.

If you have the chance to be WO I would recommend taking it.

Well if you do sign back up welcome back to the US military. Although some would say Coast Guard isn't military, I have an ID card and the same pay scale. Good luck with whatever you choose.

I actually talked to a coast guard recruiter, I wanted to go MK and get on the boarding team and eventually one of the special units like strike team. I thought coast guard were gone alot? Anyway, coast guard does alot of stuff people dont know about, they have the best drug interdiction team, best WMD team, and not to mention one hell of a S&R team. If u know anything about about boarding teams and such plz tell me. I didnt talk to the coasty again because of the lack of info about them. I would go BM but for me to come in as a E-5 or even E-4 I would have a crap load of responsibility and duties to learn all at once. Most people dont know how much BMs actually have to know. Anyway, I would love some info on family life and boarding team and related fields if u could plz. Thx.

Asprior service, you will find it will be difficult to change your MOS when you try to get back in, especially as an 11B. Normally PS are only guaranteed choice of duty station when they go back in and MOS changes are very rare.

Be prepared for lots of deployments as the MP units on Ft Bragg and Army wide are deployed often. This may change as the Army phases in the Unit of Actions, meaning that they will able to manage deployments alot better so no one should get back to back deployments.

Army lifestyle has improved, with new barracks and other facilities, though as you know, it only takes one guy in your chain of command to make life miserable lol.

All I can say is if you can deal with the inevitable deployments you already know what to expect.

Remember we are an expeditionary force now and the job site is not in the United States.
