I'm pretty new to these forums, but i have been reading our questions for the Dev's and all the threads about being snipers, especially about the extended range (which i understand is impossible/just not going to happen)
The Devs keep saying we were intended to be snipers, but thats obviously not going to happen with the short range
but i think some things could bring us closer to that, and a balance between the "sniper" role and the infantryman role
If the devs didn't do as JayBurns said about Riflemen-
"But I still feel the developers have somethingmade of soft brightly colored foam in store for rifleman, we'll just have to wait and see."
and fixed pistoleer so that they could hit the speed cap at master, but could NOT shoot from 60m, then i think rifleman could be used as a support role, much like Waste93 described the WWII sniper.
PvE would be more or less sniping since nobody groups anymore, but say you are grouped for some reason, or in PvP, a pistoleer could start the fight, letting him start taking the attacks and let the Rifleman(or woman) pick off the other people from a range.
yes, it would require more damage per shot, or maybe new or modified skills (and God forbid...teamwork), but its just an idea, but everyone here seems to be good at tweaking ideas to work realistically.

Kinda hard to be a sniper from 64 meters. Why don't you read the excellent "What is a Sniper?" thread by Waste93?

The point of my post was to show that snipers are not possible given the combat limitations.
Also the problem with Pistoleers and Carbineers isn't their speed mods. It's the delay mods in the specials themselves. Lower those a bit and Pistoleers and Carbineers would hit the cap with specials.
Also making it so Pistoleers can't shoot from 60m doesn't fix the problem at all. The max range is 64m. So there would only bea 4m window they couldn't fire in. A window that is much to small for the Rifleman to take advantage of and not much of a hinderance for the Pistoleer that can close that 4m gap in less than a second.
Snipers are a support role. They are specialists. But because of the combat limitations it is not possible to give us their abilities. The best we can work towards is infantry with some sniper like abilities. Something we mostly are already.
