Im a Stormtrooper, so I dont have the luxoury of amazing armor, but I do have the ability to change my template for a Strengthenned Ranged Combatent.
Ive been playing around abit with the character builder, and would want your oppinion on this template.
Master Marksman
Master Rifleman
Fencer 4000
Pikeman 0040
Medic 2210
This would give me

Are you looking towards PvE or PvP?
For PvE it looks pretty good defense wise. You're going to have to depend on solely your Rifle skills for offense but that should be ok.
Not sure about PvP. Status defenses are low and we know the favored attack is KD/Dizzy. But I rarely PvP so you might want to get some more advise on this side of it from someone else. Personally I don't think a lot of status defenses helps out all that much. Considering the ability to rapidly spam it until it sticks. High status defenses seem only to buy you a couple more hits before you're flat on your back. Unless you can land one on them first.

Sounds pretty decent.
Some things you may want to play around with however and think about: You're at 150 block. You get pretty close to maxed out on block (135) at Pike 0010 or 0020. Also, Pistoleer has some pretty decent defenses as well. Since you already have master Marksmen you don't have to spend extra SPs to get the pre-reqs. In Medic you may want to go 1030 instead of 2210. This should give you enough Medical Use mods to use some well made Stim Cs. You won't be able to treat bleeding, but, you'll heal much more effectively with stim Cs than you will with stim Bs. One other thing you also may want to think about is having some offensive plan for when a mob starts to melee against you. Rifles aren't the best of close counter weapons.
Having some more Pike or Fencer may help you get out of a hairy situation. But, you'll be sacrificing some defense and/or medic for it.

It's not bad but I'll throw in my 2 cents as well. Since you are going to be using Rifle as your only weapon and the other stuff is for defense I think you can play around better with the numbers. For one, you only need +125 in block, so no need to get the whole block line of pikeman. You also only need +125 in ranged defense. I understand that you wanted to get the +125 in melee defense and that's why the ranged is higher, but I'd say it's not worth it. With the to-hit bonus against a rifle user the difference between +100 or +125 melee defense will be unnoticeable, so my suggestion would be to drop some lines in Fencer of ranged/melee defense and instead try to either get more medic or pick up status defenses in fencer. Or, like a previous poster suggested you could pick up some status defense from Pistoleer and Carbineer since you already have master marksman. I'm not sure if you'll be able to cap your ranged defense that way but it may be something to look in to. Good luck

Allright, quick question, mitigation only happens when you wear the particular weapon its for?

looks good, couple of questions though
whats the 1 box in medic for? Will it help any? You can't get any better stims with that can you? I'd just use novice medic. Also, do you get better status defenses for taking the 2nd line in fencer as opposed to the line in pistoleer? it might save you a couple of extra skill points you could use somewhere, it might allow you to get some moreboxes in medic to be able to use better stims for example.
