Thread: A question about armor...

Hey guys, I gotta a quick question here. Last night I acquired a full set of Comp. armor, which I was of course stoked about! I also got my stats migrated to better suit my Rifleman character. I maxed out my mind so those stats are now sitting at something like 1000/700/1000 non-bufed. I'm a Zabrak so that's as high as those are going. So last night I got a full Doctor buff, plus two shots of high quality brandy, and then I put on my Comp. armor and it encumbered me so badly that my mind pool was draining so quickly that I could only do a very few rifle specials before I needed to rest. I use Headshot2 a lot so it was draining very fast. It got so bad that I eventually had to switch to my Ubese armor so I could use my rifle specials at will without having to rest at all. Is this something that a lot of you have experienced? Also, what is the best type of armor that a Rifleman can/should be wearing?

Thanks is advance for all your advice and support.

If oyu are wearing a full set of comp as a rifleman then you need a but more for your mind. You got it right with the 2 brandy's that are atleast 400+. Then you either need a musician buff with something like 2 arhise or a canape. The other option to this is just to eat more food if you can't get a musician buff since as a zabrak your mind max's at 1000/500/900. The key is getting your focus to atleast 1400 with your armor on, I personally need 1500 for my high end rifles.

This is probably the dumbest question in the history of dumb questions, but I'm going to ask it all the same. I've never had a musician buff before, I've only used them to heal my BF so is there anything special I need to do to receive a musician buff?

vagnerian canape, by the crate. it doesn't last long, but it adds a needed boost to mind stats.

vaserian brandy, by the crate. you can probably drink 2, with each lasting a half hour. your best plan might be to drink one, wait 15 minutes, and then drink one every 15 minutes thereafter. at the worst, you'll have ONE working at all times.

muon gold. use it sparingly. the downer will leave you crippled, but if you get stuck, it can get you to safety. muon was great before chef foods were around in their current form, but now I'd relegate it to PvE and retreats.

remember, composite armor varies widely in encumberance... you might want to look for sliced armor, or give up a few points of resistance for lower encumberance.

you might want to consider ubese armor. you might ALSO want to look into getting a few melee friends to hold the front line. strategy can be a good substitute for armor.

Yeah, I had to switch back to using my Ubese armor last night because it has less encumberance than the Comp. armor I have. I also was using my brandy regularly at two hits every 30-40 minutes or so. As for the Muon Gold, I try to stay away from spices as much as possible so I don't think I'll be using that much, but I'm definitley going to buy one or two units just as insurance in case I get into a really tight situation. Thanks for the tips!

Another thing you should consider is that in PVE at least a full suit of composite isn't necessary. You can get by without wearing leggings and some of the arm pieces, that will save you a little bit of mind.

plus, I'm not sure if you are doing PVE or PVP but if the armor is for PVE when a mob melee's you then you are probably better off using Ubese anyway, you won't need the other protections of composite. If it's pvp then you should get musician buffs and possible 1 vagnerian canape.

Musician buffs do work differently, you need to either group with the musician and listen for like 7 minutes or have the musician direct their performance at you for 7 minutes while listening. Most will probably want to group with you, and don't forget to tip them.

Skip the Canape and go for Ahrisa. Ahrisa only buffs focus, but it does so for 45 minutes at 33 filling. Take 3 Ahrisas, 2 BE Brandy, and you're done. Your focus is over 1500 which means zero cost for specials. I'm a Twi'lek MR/MD and I do very well. If I Twi'lek can do it, so can you.

Well, at the moment I do mostly PVE combat so I can level up quickly, but I do intend on getting more into PVP combat as I progress through my skill template. I just calculated my exact skill template for my character and it is leaving me with only 3 skill poins left. I'm going to become a Master Rifleman/TKM/Fencer(only the first column for the defense)/Novice Medic(so I can use stims in the field to heal myself). I believe that this template will be quite good for what I intend to use it for.

Hmmm. First of all I am a human. Mind stats at 1000/1000/1000 unbuffed. I am a master doc so I buff myself.

I use two brandy shots and wear a complete set of fully sliced high resist comp armor and spamming non-stop head shot 2's my mind bar doesn't even move. I think you might just have a poorly crafted / sliced suit of comp. Maybe do some research on that and proceed from there. Oh, and the canope is great when 1 brandy wears off and you can't take a second one quite yet during the transition period.

Well, I'm a Zabrak and my mind points do not go up as high as yours I'm afraid. The mind drain only occurs when I'm wearing the Comp. armor-which encumbers me almost 1000 (846 is the exact number I think)points in each of my mind pool slots-,but when I wear my Ubese armor I do not have any mind drain and I am able to spam HeadShot2 like a champ using only two shots of brandy.

Canape is for PVP, Ahrisa is for PVE. At least, that's how I saw it. Ahrisa has served me much better than Canape has PVE.

canape is great in pve aswell when ur slowly dieing cause u cant heal mind pool canape give u a lovely boost to your regen rate so you stay alive longer.

only wear the helmet when u need it the helmet a lone normal is 300ish so taking that off with drop special from 60 down to 20-30 its very worthly looking into buying a encumbrance sliced parts like helmet.

ahrisa is the long lasting pve though u can take 3 at about 430 for 45 mins 2 brand that another 400 for 40mins. also i though zabrak got a mind boost skill i might be wrong i dont really know the other races as i picked human.
