You must be thinking about Aim. That is a modifier to your next shot/few shots.

My combo of choice when I'm lucky enough to get a single target (man do I miss that /headshot bleed) is now Sniper Shot followed immediately by Startle Shot.

The Startle Shot hits right after Sniper Shotand prevents the opponent from attacking for about 4 seconds. By that time I'm ready for another Sniper Shot (or Headshot for the times when Sniper Shot won't stick).

Startle Shot seems like the 3rd most powerful shot to me (1) Sniper Shot, (2) Head Shot, (3) Startle Shot.

The Sniper/Startle combo offers less Damage Per Second thanSniper/Headshot, but I can usually get 4 attack rounds in for every 1 attack I suffer. It also allows me to control the time betweenmy specials so that my overall action drain is slower.

One important note, however, is that the Startle Shot state modifier is cancelled as soon as the target takes more damage. If you're in a group, don't bother with Startle Shot at all because your group-mates will free the target from Startle almost immediately. At that point, the target will be headed your way because you'll be doing the most damage (remember when we used to be able to have anyone with /tautfor us?).

Another important change I've noticed relates to the impact of being prone.

Before CU if you went prone you had better accuracy and higher damage but you sacrificed melee defense and you could not used ranged weapon at close range when prone. Now there is absolutely no downside to remaining prone. You can use rifle from prone position at a range of 1m and it seems to me that mobs miss me more when I'm prone than they do while I'm standing.

I can't whether or not accuracy is improved, but you get to use Sniper Shot (or try to use it anyway).

As far as I'm concerned, this Rifleman is keeping his "zipper" in the dirt. Only time I get up from prone nowis if I need to heal.

I might be way of track, but the thing is.

conceal shot: can only be done while in cover. This shot will hit your target but not give them clear knowledge of your where abouts.

sniper shot: a mod to any normal shot. Use once(let the warm up run through) then choose the shot you wanna fire. Like improved headshot.

You sure about that? I realize that the game can easilly make a differentiation between "prone" and "knocked down", but I know you take a beating if you lying in the dirt from being knocked down. I would be surprised (happily so) if you could be prone without the same ill effects.

he is correct. Knockdown makes it easier to damage you but prone does not. Feel free to lie down and blast away ^-^
