Ackehece, what is your personal opinion of armor and Doc buffs? Do you use them? If so, how and when do you use them? You seem like an ensightful rifleman, perhaps you can give me some pointers on these. I won't go hunting ANYTHING without a full Doc buff and my Comp. armor chest plate, leggings, and helmet.

I find that buffs and armor are definitely useful - but I think we are much to dependant on them and the game has lost something because of it. Armor will allow you to take much more damage before your frail organic body fails on your and buffs allow more of the same + they allow a freedom of action that an unbuffed person in the game does not have. It is nice to have you mind fully buffed and your body tone and buffed up by a doc to the point that nothing short of armaggeddon or a krayt munching on you hurts. You will be able to do much higher level missions by yourself and will make more money in game consquentially. Solo'ing rancors is a means I use on occasion to raise funds quick, without buffs and armor that would be a none starter by any stretch of my imagination.

I do use armor and buffs, it depends on the situation. Generally if I am headed to Dathomir I will armor up and buff otherwise I am quite willing to go unbuffed almost anywhere (a few places on endor and lok still scare me a bit unarmored)

If I know it will take more then 6 or 7 shots to kill the creature/npc I am after I will usually buff and armor as I can not predicate if they will get to me before they die and if that is the case (that they can take 6 or more hits) they usually can kill little ole me in 1 swipe of their claws.

If you are a master rifleman you can do an amazing amount of damage unbuffed and unarmored and unaggroed if you

a) use a single target attack (so as not to aggro a group)

b) stay at 55+m away

c) keep an eye on your mind! if you start to flatline you brain you will die very soon after... moun is a good pick me up and brandy can help if you have the money

I just re-activated my account, where is a good place to solo to reach Novice Rifleman (Im Rifles IV now). A place that I can solo without doctor buffs.

Ackehece, I appreciate your opinions and suggestions, you gave some very good information that I will be sure to use in the future as I continue to level through the Rifleman profession. For now though I'll probably stick with armoring up and buffing until I get a bit higher in the profession so I will have the specials and the speed to deal a great deal of damage to protect my unarmored, unbuffed self.

oh, and as for BH... Kaadara on Naboo is where you will want to grind the invest xp. It has the BH terminal and a spynet operative for every level of invest. Also, don't train any invest skills till you have 10k xp stored up. Then train Invest 1 and Invest 2 at the same time. This lets you keep getting missions on the same planet longer and not have to start waisting money on droids so soon. At invest 1 your droid tracking is so bad, you lose a lot of droids due to 'lost track of target', 'meteor shower hits your droid', etc. Invest 2 gives you a much better success rate for tracking.
