Its a real simple explanation why cover doesn't work so I hope i'm being a dunce and don't know how it works Post CU, or you've all missed the obvious!

You're not bugged, but I think the skill is bugged. I have zero too.


Or rather 0/+1 , because I have a piece of clothing on with Cover +1.

Confirmed, to a degree... Overchargeshot does nothing if it is theFIRST attack on a target. After target has been engaged by another attack, however overchargeshothasworked.

oversharge seems to work just as good as any other short warmup timer does, like the melee knockdown we get.

Not a bug, but a major issue.

There's no longer any real reason for weaponsmiths to make, or for us to use, T21 rifles.

The Advanced Laser Rifle uses fewer power handlers (more easily krayted), fewer resources and the resources it does use tend to spawn with better stats than those of the T21.

I've been krayt hunting today & I've looted a set of 6 189 damage tissues. I now have a choice of making 1 krayted T21 or a krayted Advanced Laser Rifle and have 2 tissues spare. Since there's no damage difference in the 2 weapons there is no reason for me to get a new T21.

The T21 needs a boost in minimum damage at the very least to make a difference.

I'm new to rifleman (as of the CU) and 95% of my battle experience has been in a group with other, lower level characters: all non-rifleman. Since I knew very little of the profession I probably did what many of you consider 'mistakes,' the main one being attempting to take cover under all sorts of conditions (in the middle of combat with enemies and group members nearby, in between Head Shots, on hills.. you name it). Here are my experiences, bugs, and difficulties:


Advanced Aim: There was a warm-up but I never noticed any effect. Maybe there's a lack of a buff icon, but I never use it since I can't tell if it's working or for how long.


Advanced Snipershot:I had to be under cover to get this to work, not just prone. The first few attempts have a warm-up but there's no subsequent shot. Once it starts working though, I get about 2x damage of my head shots and it works everytime at all ranges. When this works, our group chews through the PVE enemies. When it doesn't, we still kill them but it takes longer and we receive a bit more damage.


Advanced Startleshot: Never really noticed much of an effect with this. If Sniper isn't working, then I'll use this if someone's getting beat on. Seems to last a very short time though.


Cover up: This is a pain. Sometimes I can get it to work quickly, other times it doesn't. I've successfully used it in the middle of battle in between successful sniper shots. Here's what's odd though: it only works when it definitely fails. Most of thetime the warm-up timer goes and nothing happens. However, sometimes I'll get an 'error' message stating that "You are unable to hide yourself because something is close enough to see you," I'll get the little +Cover+ floating message and the Coverbuff icon. After this I can attempt to use conceal shot and sniper shot. Once I get to this point, it's usually easy for me to take cover if I lose it, as long as someone is close enough to see me. Note that this isn't consistant by any means. Also, I've made a macro that fires this off every 6 seconds. Once I finally get this and /dump the macro. I keep attempting to cover up for about a minute afterwords... almost like 2 or 3 of these are queued up. It is after I use this macro that Snipershot seems to take awhile to work as well.


Improved Conceal Shot: First shot seems to work well, but by the second or if I'm lucky the third, I get discovered and my cover gets broken. Not very concealable and sniper works much better for me. Plus sniper doesn't break my cover like this does.


Improved Head Shot: No problems here at all.


Improved Knee-cap shot: No real problems.. doesn't seem to slow things down much, but it does somewhat. Maybe -10% to -25% of their speed.


Hopefully this will help. Since my cover situation seems a little different from other peoples, I'll pay more attention to various variables that may be affecting my success or failure.

I'm going to reiterate what I said before: besides the difficulty of attaining /cover, there is NO difference in PvE between using /concealShot or any other attack. Just go prone and use regular attacks, and you'll get the exact same results, except without the concealShot windup time or "you have been discovered" message. PvE mobs go through the exact same pattern of moving slightly toward you after each of the first couple shots until they figure out where you are.

So there are two separate issues, one with being unable to /cover and the other that it has no effect outside PvP.

yup yup, tactics in pve are pointless, jsst spam damage and pray.

Its not even 2 or 3 shots. They will discover you after a set ammount of time. Go prone, hit aim, sniper, the spam head and placed between each other'ss refresh. Prey it dies bofore it gets into attack range.

My experience has been that Sniper Shot, Cover, AND Improved Aim are all random as to when they work.


If I go prone, and try Cover or Improved Aim, and neither works.. then Sniper Shot is guaranteed not to work.


Then, I'll move a bit, always by standing first, and all three will work fine.


I've gotten around how inconvenient this is, but attempting Improved Aim first.. if it doesn't work, I move. Repeat until Improved Aim works, then Sniper shot and start combat.


I'm surprised more people haven't mentioned Improved Aim.

Conceal shot is not worth the effort of trying to get in Cover anyway.


To make cover 1 time in 3, u gotto have your bike, Party members & all NPC/Creatures at max range.. then it works ok.


But like i said, Conceal is not worth the 2 - 3 minuits of getting into position & covering.


2 - 3 hits & you are detected & have only done about 10% damage to the creature / NPC. then you are Agro'd & The entire MOB Charges you, not just the individual target.


If this is how Conceal Shot is Now intended to work, then I'd rather just Charge shot or Use Pistol/Carb attacks with my Rifles..."Untill they Nerf that one as well"...hehehe

Does Warning Shot do *anything*? It appears to be a completely useless ability in the current state. We need a state indicator on the target or some spam feedback. I've seen neither and can't really judge if it is having any effect on creatures.


We need more in-game spam feedback from all our specials. If the things aren't going to work, we need to know *why*. I'm quickly growing to hate the profession I've played since release.

I Don't think the Old BE Clothing really works anymore.


I Put on my +17 Cover - +17 Med Feildwear Suit lastnight, and although the Mods appear in the Skills Mods Window on the Skill Sheet, I think they have been disabled. I was showing Cover 0 / +172, Wound Treatment 0 / 156, Injury Treatment 0 / 156, but in reality, those skills no longer exist & so i would assume won't acctually do anything for the character.


I Would like to have seen all Current BE Clothing Converted like everyhing else.., ie: Wound Treatment & Injury Treatment Converted to The New Skill Sets & Stuff like Cover "which no-longer even appears in the Skill Mods Window", to make it harder to break Cover or Something i the new system..


These Old BH Clothes that i spent a fortune on are now little more than a collectors item for Display...

Aside from the other bugs posted, there's been a few times (I love the random ones) when Im coming out of a large bldg with a "porch" like a PA hall, been attacked, but can't attack back until I step off the porch. Im Master Ranger/Master RIfle, so Im not sure if this is a general bug or a rifle specific since I dont use other weapons.
