On the wound damage idea, what about using the Wound % on the weapon itself decide how much damage is done as wounds...as in everyone's shots do wound damage. This makes regular trips to a doctor more important, and since wounds can be healed better/faster in Medical centers and camps, we might see them being used more.
I like the idea.....though do it for all prof, not just rifles and then make the rifles do the most wound dammage. helps docs, helps us, gives purpose to other proffesions.........great idea!
I thouhgt I said that, but if it wasn't clear, I meant what you were saying. I believe every weapon has a wound % as a stat. The devs could easily allow that stat to be greater ranging, maybe to 100% for some weapons. Pistols might have a small percentage, while Rifles have a huge percentage. Someone may want a weapon with a lower max damage but high wound damage %
This does sound like a great Idea. I dont think it would have to be rifles only.
Apparently I am not communicating my thoughts very well today. I think EVERY weapon, including Meele weapns (but I don't think hands tho, sorry TKA) shold do some wound damage with every hit, based on the Wound % stat each weapon has.
Diffenent weapons and in differnt classes would have greater wound percentages. What I would love to see is all Master Cert weapons have the highest wound percentage of their class. So whatever Sword is the Master Swordsman has the highest wound percentage of all swords, and the Master Pistol weapon has the highest wound percentage of all pistols. Hybrid Master weapons, like the HC Scatter or the Hev Lightning Rifle, would have a higher wound % then any other BH weapon but not higher than the PURE profession weapon.
Naturally, I think that the Master Rifleman weapons (we are about to have more than one of them
) should have the highest wound percentage of any weapon, with Swordsman weapons being either tied or a very close second...they are supposed to be the Melle heavy hitters after all.

Hopefully this thread, which has been remarkably positive and constructive from every poster (I am a BH, and a thread like thisis never Flame resistant for long) will show the Devs that we Riflesentients (well some of us are at least) are willing to give up the Sniper Role to be Nukes - becasue we realize that Rifleman/Ranger is the Sniper Combo.

Commandos as well? Hmmm? (after all theyarewere Nukers as well)
I don't want to bismirch the Commandos, but AOE is really nice to have. Swordsman have to run thier butt up next to ya before they can hack away, if they can get thru the snares, roots and mezzes. We get to shoot at one target at a time and do our thing. Commandos get to shoot one guy and damage most people standing next to the crispy critter. They also have some DOT effects from some of their weapons, dont they.
Personally I would like to see the Commando the counter to the Nuke Rifleman. They have similar range, and the AOE would interupt our Nuke.
Just to point out - I never saw anything written about the Commando changes in Pub 24 before the patch notes came out. It was all about Squad Leader. The Devs kinda snuck in a nice improvement to Comandos without making a big deal about it prior. I am hoping the Ranger Revamp carries a little Riflesentient love like we have been talking about here.
actually, they did collect information in the commando forums and posted about the changes in the beta forums. Unfortunatly if you were not in beta you would have missed that. But yes, hopefully they get us some love

I was in the beta too, but I was fairly focused on how to get the Lava Skiff. The Lava Flea is ok, but its SLOW. I liked the new Rifle we are getting, and the new BH Rifle was sweet as well.
Speaking of the beta, and those dang Trinity Assisins - could we work with the Chef correspondant to get a food that reduces Weapon Hinerance for a short time. When I am fleeing for my life I want to be able to shoot while howling like a poodle (I'm a bothan).
LOL

A few coments:
The high damage specials like sniper shots or conceal shots are only good in group. Once in duel/pvp or solo pve, These specials are not possible, 'cos we need to be prone and static and at distance from the target ==> not a possible situation.
Also Master Rifleman don't have any weapons for their own. T21 is the only rifle I think certified for master rifleman (the only major I could think of), and it's really outdated. All nice other rifles, like Laser rifle or Trando rifle are open to everyone. The new DP-23 rifle is not even for us.
My coment is that rifleman is totally left out of the game

Teh following is a big blob of stuff that probably doesnt make sense, read at your own risk.
If you don't think startle shot is useful, then you are doing something very wrong. With my bowcaster, i can normally drop people to 1/3 health or so before they notice it, depending on profession/armor... but if you get them low enough and pop a startle shot, that takes people to just low enough for one headshot to incap. Startle shot = you cant heal unless you stim or ruby bliel+stim (can take a while to figure out why you cant use bacta whatever), headshot, that persons incapped, and you win. I restarted my character about a 2-3 weeks ago and have been playing rifleman ever since (i was a rifleman WAAYY way back, as well as others..., and on my character when i came back to the game 2 months ago or so). It's virtually impossible for me to lose a 1v1 as it is... my template being Master Rifles, Master Pistols, and 4004 CM. Today i found myself in Cnet against 2 jedi and what seemed to be a commando/rifleman, i killed one of the jedi in about a minute (using exo-protein and deuterium pyro or however its spelled most of the time), and moved onto the rifleman. He got incapped in 4 quick shots (used startle shot after a body/headshot and he couldnt heal, 1 more headshot = incap), jedi healed him, 2 more shots incapped again. He had the heal bug where he healed+incapped at the same time, so i tripled him in a few more shots. Moved onto the 2nd jedi, and almost had him incapped alot of times. He ran and made it to the water (NPC blew my bike)
Basically all that means riflemen are far from underdogs if you know how to play them, no matter what you say, its the skill and timing that counts
and yeah, after those 2 weeks of pvp, more or less, im up to a 1760 pvp rating, mostly all of it gained from soloing
pick up lots of accuracy tapes and some speed to go along with it, exo-protein wafers, and youre set
I agree that startle shot is useful, it has saved me numerous times. However I think the reason you are unbeatable 1 vs 1 is because of your CM 4/0/0/4 and the complement of pistol skills to you rifle skills. Rifleman without the CM help is not a very good pvp template. Problem with the game right now is that you are required to have some CM to survive.

I do not remember the name of the Rifle, but I did get a Master Rifleman cert weapon from the Blue Frog, and it was pretty nice - but it was still energy.
Anyway, if you read some of the posts I and AdmiralSeer had, many of us agree with you that our role needs improvement. That is becasue we are stradling two roles right now, Nuker and Sniper. Witht he imlpending changes to Ranger, a few of us think that the Sniper role should be transitioned to them...let them have Conceal Shot. That would free us Rifle-sentients up to be pure long range, single target Nukers. Commandos should be the AOE nuking role, and Swordsman bethe heavy damage dealers ( arent they the Armor Break profession...as in Direct Damage?).
If we do get to become the Single Target Nukers, then our Master Weapons should reflect diferent aspects of this. All weapons should have a higher SAC to counter the higher damage we dish out.One weapon should be higher damge of a particular damage type, like one that does High energy, one that does high Kinetic, and some that do high Elemental.. Other weapons might give extended range at the expense of added damage.
I agree with you that the Prone requirement hurts us. I think may feel that having some form of penalty to damage or acuracy is better than a posture requiremnt. If Accuracy was penalized for Kneeling or standing, and we had to be stationary to fire our Nuke shots, then perhaps the Aim timers might make better sense where they are currently set. Aim would counter the Standing penalty and actually improve our accuracy, but it would fade. Reapplying Aim takes time, and does no damage, giving our opponent some time to move in on our position and take us out - therefore providing balance. Making Aim a critical skill for rifleman, instead of a nice add-on, means that someone that simply dabbles in our profession for the nuke shot isnt gaining as much as we have as Masters.
