Yes, but Ackehece, I'm being FORCED to take the Pistols line!? That's a HUGE blow, and makes no sense. Its 14 points damn it, that I can use somewhere else. And, off the top of my head (I cant quite remember will have to check TC again) the specials in those 4 novice boxes will be pretty much useless at master rifle and a couple of them where even the same (I think) as the Rifles line. CM is a Ranged Support profession, NOT a pistols profession. I am being forced to take pistols. Not happy! And I believe this is a bug, hence will continue to /bug every time I log.

Congrats on the Rifleman Corro btw

Made 3xx1 marksman, 2xxx scout last night in a few hours (didn't think about the grenades exploit; didn't know about the ability to perform ANY special even if you don't have it ) . . .

NOTHING aggroed on me until I shot it. The "trash mobs" behind the starports NEVER attacked. I did a little grouping, but people were going to bed by the time I got rolling.

Nests are delivering LOTS of mobs, which I like . . .

Since nothing aggroed on me, I was free to kite. One or two orange cons fall before I needed to rest. I could continually kill yellow cons by this method: Attack from max range, kiting. When the mob catches me, run back toward the nest. By the time I made it back to the nest, the mob was dead and I was ready for another yellow.

Once I hit Rifle3 and was certified for the DLT20a (45m range woohoo!!), blue cons died in 3 shots (Placed, Aimed, "regular"), and I was forced to walk a few meters to harvest hides and whatnots.

I'm Bixby on TC5 if you guys wanna shoot me a /tell for a big rifles group

Ok I just checked TC for the specials in both the Marksman Rifle and Pistols tree. There is one special per box. All of them are the same except, Aim for Rfiles (Rifles4) and Quickdraw for Pistols (pistols4). Hence the specials gained from being FORCED to take pistols as CM are insignificant compared to the 14 points it will cost. 14 points for a special that doesnt even look all that useful!?!? Not happy!

oh and btw: thank you for moving this to the proper thread ^_-

I think it is part of their leveling the playing field that you get stuck with pistols (that and the pistoleers would be peeved if you got the pistol without any prereqs for it) it does hurt but it happens for all dual ranged professions. rifle +Pistols +carbines etc... all have duplicated skills in the marksmen boxes. Otoh you gain speed and accuracy for the weapon in those boxes as well and that is worth something.

I do see you point and I will bring it up but this is a battle that was lost a while ago it seems from what I am seeing. (I would also point out this is more of a marksmen/CM issue then a rifle issue but as we are doing templates here I will see what I can say about it)

Thanks Ackehece, I've also brought it up in the CM forum.

Basically its 14SP wasted. The simple solution is remove the pitstol from the Master CM box. Why do we even need a pistol here? We are a ranged support profession and should stay that way. That means we can choose the ranged weapon we wish to train in and use the master weapon for that ranged profession (ie T-21 for rifles). This makes zero sense as far as I'm concerned.

I think the reasoning behind the Pistols line is because, well, we get a pistol at Master.

Aside from that, I don't really know though.

And I agree, as things stand now, Ranged Support would be a more beneficial pre-requisite for CM's to have as it will allow more templating then simply Pistoler and other Pistol Based profs.

Not just "a pistol at Master". More like a "fantastic DPS unique pistol" at Master. Since no one but master CMs can use it, you definitely garner some respect using one of these in battle. As to why a pistol? Medical professions if they are associated with weapons are typically associated with a small sidearm so it doesnt impede their healing duties.

seems that is the answer blix is giving at the moment. The CM corrspondent is all over him about it.I would suggest you follow the thread in the Combat medic for it appears Blixtev is actually addressing it there - not well but he is talking.

rifleman-MBH

all are possible and all have benefits now...

rifleman-commando is offensive stacking

rifleman-smuggler is ranged mezzing

rifleman-bh is balanced offensive stacking (not quite as powerful but gain some defences in the bargin)

if you really want to know how this is going to work I suggest you try out the skills on tc-5 - we are/will be testing almost all combos to see how well they work togther.

ack...i know its not pve related (and ill test them..trust me..hehe)

The bowcaster issue (idea):

The bowcaster as we know it pops up everywhere form the movies(ep3 and others i belive..tho dont remember any with chewie) to the games to the books.

a bowcaster is the equivalent of a t21 to wookies..so here goes:

option 1:

-make bowcasters certed for everyone BUT wookies get dmg multiplier and speed bonus as part of their race bonuses (this will go over well with many im sure) while the rest can use it but not as effectively

the idea behind this is to encourage wookies to roleplay like wookies and not like humans or clones or storm troopers

option 2:

-make a "low level" bowcaster certed for EVERYONE... BUT make a "advanced" version (check EP3 pictures) certed for wookies only and its a mid-range weapon in the rifleman trees.

Also some bugs or mistakes:

a bowcaster fires Green electricity-like effect SPHERES...not rifle bolts...please change it...you guys(devs) said u improved animations, blah blah blah...but we see white coming out of bowcasters now...sorry but not likely (unless EP3 is about to change history...and uve already seen it..which i doubt).

im done...please see if u can recommend to the devs this and see what they say... a bowcaster is meant to be used...not destroyed(like noob weapons are)...and it certainly adds to kashyyk.

Please If you are a testor

The froggies will be up sometime this evening with the Skill Trainer on it.

Pick the professions you want to try out in combo with rifleman and consider the questions posed earlier.

I also suggest you read the documents about profession role that TH posted so you can see how professions are supposed to work.

Please test and don't just randomly pvp (unless you are on the pvp team ^_^)

whatever you do - do not pvp inside the cities near the frogs. If you do you will probably be kicked and possibly be banned from the server.

I will be at work till later tonight So you will not see me much today

name on TC-5 is Ackehece (same as my forum name)

feel free to add me to your Friends list and drop me a line if I am on.

I have to say, it's proving very difficult to get a sense of how appropriate the new player experience is, with mob difficulty all over the map, and with XP fluctuating so significantly... at this point I have no idea, really, whether a new player is going to have an easy or difficult time levelling, or how long that will take, based on my experience so far.

Won't really be able to get into template testing until the elite professions open up.
