One more thing, I mentioned that damage mitigation will affect the Laser more than the T21. Here is how
this will break down before the AP is taken into account:

These would be the base numbers before AP vs. AR is taken into account. Against a vulnerable target, this would be the actual numbers used. Against a target with resists, the T21 would do 25% more damage against a target with no armor, light armor, or medium armor, and 50% more damage against a target with heavy armor.
Yup, I agree. The Advanced Laser Rifle is the best combo bet. Great damage, good speed, and you can get some now with crafted accuracy mods of around 14-17 on them. Mine hits for 1,320 max damage with a damage powerup on it.
Since the ALR is Energy damage I also keep around a couple of other rifles. The Beserker Rifle does Kinetic Damage and mine hits for around 1,150 and fires pretty fast. Can't afford a Beserker? Then a nice second alternative from a 12pt weaponsmith is a Tusken Rifle. Yup, Tusken Rifle is now Kinetic Damage as well. Consider one of these Kinetic rifles if your PVP'ing since most folks are wearing PSG's now...that only protect against energy.
Lastly, consdier a rifle that adds some elemental damage. I like the Jawa Ion Rifle. Mine hits for around 1,000 pts of damage with a 166 elemental damage on it also (electricity). Plus it looks kewl when it hits something.
I keep 4 of my best rifles in my F keys...then I can switch between them to add some variation. It also good if your pup runs out (not as often now!) and you need to switch to a new rifle quickly with no time to re-pup the old one while in battle.

My adv laser rifle is also better for most stats, except for the SAC which to me is utterly important.

I considered ADK'ing my Trando rifle, but didn't really see the point because you can get crafted rifles that have better stats (my Advanced Laser Rifle is better).
Look to buy an Adv Laser riffle or a T21 with 300+ base dps.
Trandoshan hunting riffle is also nice. Quest based. 311 base dps.
An Adv. Laser rifle is the best choice if you are yet to master rifleman, the T21 is very similar in stats to the ALR but looks a million times better (imo).
Instead of just looking at DPS the stats you want are a low SAC (preferrably at the cap of 85) and high max damage. You may have to get this as a custom order from a weaponsmith. I got one of each made up the other day without any krayt tissues and they came out very nice. 980 max damage and capped SAC.
