Thread: so the 2.5x mod was not fixed in this update... instead they make things worse...
To make riflemen happy (and worthwhile compaired to pistoleer), they'll have to give us some significant bonuses... but that leads to a slippery slope of adding bonuses...other classes get jealous and want bonuses too,
That's why I like the concept of adding range to riflemen. While it's a bonus, it won't upset the DPS hounds.
I would also like them to tweak the aggro system to stop some of the absurdities, e.g. I fire and miss a creature from 60m away, another one in the same pack instantly zero's in on my location.
Once they've fixed these, maybe then look to see how broken things are.

1. In the above situation, where the opponent is charging the rifleman, I propose a 2.5x damage multiplier!
Let me go on the record as saying I love this idea. ![]()
It would discurrage people from charging us, though if they did and managed to get close, we would be boned.
From a distance we would be strong, and the further the distance the stronger, and at close range we are hurting. Like it should be...
Yeah, going prone is nice for taking on single mobs, butmost of the time if you fire on a mob in a pack, even if THAT single mob doesn't notice the first few hits, his friends will start charging you as soon as you fire the first round. You can maybe get two hits off before the rest of the group is on top of you wailing away on your poor prone body(try this out on Pubam camps on Endor to see what I mean).
Oh, andabout 25% of the time when you squeeze off that first shot a mob will warp right on top of you for an insta-kill. Either that, or when you finally get in a good prone sniping position and are preparing to fire, a group of aggros will spawn on you.
However, if you miraculously manage to get off some good shots, stand up and start kiting them, be extremely careful that you don't accidentally switch targets, as most times when you aquire a new target you will stop in your tracks to fire the first volley at the new target, allowing the mobs chasing you to catch up and slaughter you as you curse the retardedness ofthe whole situation.
(sigh)
People say we're a support class and shouldn't be effective in every situation, but neither should any other class! All classes should be equally disadvantaged in certain situations... Unfortunately, only certain classes have had 'realistic' limitations imposed on them, while other classeshave gone unscathed.
They've let the pistol become so powerful for so long that most people are using them now, and when they start talking about nerfing them or changing anything, there's a huge outcry against it, simply because it'sthe tool of the masses. To avoid making pistoleers angry, they can't nerf them. To make riflemen happy (and worthwhile compaired to pistoleer), they'll have to give us some significant bonuses... but that leads to a slippery slope of adding bonuses...other classes get jealous and want bonuses too, pistoleers feel like they're being "ignored" and start wanting more bonuseson top of what they already have... it goes on and on.
Because it wasn't balanced from the start, I'm betting there's always going to be an imbalance between the classes. All they can do is keep the majority happy, and right now that means keeping pistoleers happy.
Sucks, I know, but I guess that's life.
