T-21 is pretty useless in PvE unless the creature you're fighting has light armor and low energy resist. If there is no armor then AP3 means nothing. More often that not mid and lower PvE mobs are vulnerable to stun so you hit for max damage. Its also faster which is better for grinding rifleman and usually alot easier on the HAM's than a T-21. That only applies if you're a non-human with low maxed focus and dont want to blow alot of brandy and ahrisa. Humans got it way easy.
If you're still grinding I'd stick with the laser rifle. You can get the max damage alot higher than a T21 or a Jawa even with a speed slice. They're also usually cheaper than T21's making them perfect for wearing down to the nubs while grinding.
p.s.- the Jawa stopped being the king PvP weapon when people started getting smart to psg's and stun armor. The DXR-6b is the better one.

hmmm, ok well maybe I'll try it out then, but it better take 'em down quick, usually I've been hunting kaadu's and nunas unbuffed with only a ubese jacket and getting 3 kaadu's aggro'd on you at once at my level kinda hurts when they're right there and your range bonus is now shot. Luckily I havea pretty tough probot harvest/trap droid that can tank a bit for me when stuff like that happens. Quicker for me to hit it with a repair kit than to clone and come back out to a mission.
lol oh well if you can't use stim C's or D's or don't have buffs and mind food with I wouldn't advise you do my method than =D
Well, I can use B's right now, I will be dumping a few more points into medic when I get around to sitting in the med center healing people again. I guess I should also say I usually try to get buffed but that doesn't always happen, like the other night I logged in and there was one Doc in Cnet and the line was already closed. Since I don't know Starsider very well, I just headed off to Naboo to go hunt anyway since I've set my stats up to handle unbuffed hunting using food/spice/stimpacks if I'm careful and don't go running in shooting everything in sight.

If the npc you fight doesn't have light, medium, or heavy armor then AP3 is worthless. You get no armor piercing bonus if its un-armored. You might want to re-read my entire message at this point. And while the laser has a low min damage its better than the spraystick for grinding.

your paritally right, cept that the heavy armor piercing > than the medium armor peircing. the ham costs are mute if you have buffs and some arisha or brandy, additionally the min on the laser rifles really kills the overall output of stable damage.

Thanks everyone for the tips, I'm actually about 80K away from novice rifleman but that won't take me too long. A few hours at most depending on what I hunt. I was grinding on naboo avian from nunas and kaadus but the vendor I was selling to hasn't bumped his post in a day so I might have to go find something else (just not corellian avian.......that stuff sucks to find).

YOU only lose the ap bonus if the target is VULNERABLE to that particular type of damage. For example, if you are shooting a target with AP3 but is vuln to enegy, you get no ap bonus. If however, you shoot a target with AP0 but has 1% or greater resistance, you get the ap bonus.

No love for the spraystick.
From rifles 3 to novice I swear by them. A damage sliced spraystick + point blank area can massacre feral banthas/rontos/etc to make grinding novice a breeze. They just come up short once you start hunting things with a fair bit more HAM.
However, once I hit novice I always go for speed sliced T21s (I sell them for a song since most people just want damage) and head to yavin for the crystal snake dens. On Ahazi, it's not even uncommon to find some grind worthy speed sliced T21s on bazaar...
