but... rifles are faster in CU... the T21s I got off the frog on TC5 have a speed of like 2.5 or somthing in that range... and a damage range that goes up to over 800 on them.

All the Rifles I got from the frogs have a speed of 2.5 .

The speed on the weapons is yet to be determined (stats on the frogs are not necessarily correct)... we will see the real speed once the crafters get their hands on them.

for rifleman..as far a i saw and guessing:

take cover -> adds to "taking cover" luck

cover -> helps with defenses probably whilst ur in cover

ranged defense-> as always

rifle accuracy->ditto

rifle speed->ditto

the devs MIGHT turn "block" for example into "rifle defense" and "rifle accuracy while moving" into just "rifle accuracy" so i dont know

they said they'll turn everything non-useful into something useful again... so we gotta wait and see.

im stocked up on rifle tapes personally and trying to get capped ASAP on everything...( +3 speed shirt, +5 speed belt, +6 speed AA, about +15 accuracy in 2-3 tapes, +15 acc while moving in 2-3 tapes, +50 take cover in 4-5 tapes, ranged defense+9,etc)

im stocking up only on whats the surest thing...if u check ur forums ull see tape prices going down like mad...well..now's the time to buy and take a chance...

The big question is if state defenses will be in CU. They are not in the profession trees ATM, but there are skills to lower state defenses for CM so they might come in later (or be hidden)

I have been told that DPS is meaningless.
Does that mean that the speed of the rifle is meaningless as well? I was told that MAX damage is all one should care about when looking at a rifle.

Max damage

Sac Cost

Speed

all are important factors

DPS unfortunately is not calculated as it is used ingame so it gives a relatively meaningless stat.

Speed is important up to a point, if you modified speed is 1.5 or faster, its pretty irelivent

If you are PvPing.... min damage is all that counts.

Okay then, I had a Berserker made with Capped damage and Capped SAC, then should I have it sliced for speed or Damage? (I know Berserkers suck post-CU, I just want a beautiful wall-hanger)

you can't slice past cap (well you can but it only affects min damage so for pvp would be a good idea) so speed would be the better choice (and contrary to what Axilx says a critical slice can't hurt either)
