Thread: OMG the Devs Listened to a Rifleman
1 - DX2 is far less effective as an elite weapon for Pistoleer thanthe current T21 is torifleman.
And that is sad, that both of our "elite" weapons are more or less useless. Also this point is arguable since comparing weapons never works out too well.
2 - FWG5 is (was) the only viable option for Smugglers who dont have their own weapon certs.
If you want the best gun you need to spend the skill points to get it, smugglersthat are solely smugglers (I dont think they exist) can use scouts which is a fairly good gun if they want better they can get better.
3 - FWG5 does heat damage that is greatly resisted on most objects within SWG.
Nearly all our weapons (I think its only the jawa ion which does stun damage actually) do energy damage, even spraystick and tusken that are supposed to do acid and kinetic appropriately, which is the most resisted damage type.
4 - FWG5 is AR0. T21 is AR3.
Seeing how armor is more or less broken and therefore moot, and the fact that you can fire many times faster then any rifleman, excluding master, your DPS is still superior or at least equal to our own when fighting mobs in PvE. And as far as PvP goes we cannot use armor (while you can wear anything) due to encumberance so this point is again made moot.
Master rifleman is the furthest extent that we can advance rifle, pistols have pistoleer, smuggler, and bounty hunter to get faster and more accurate as well as more damaging shots. While saying that you are forced to grab a secondary profession to compete with someone who isn't may not seem fair ask the devs to remove pistol bonuses from pistoleer when calculating smuggler and BH shots which will allow you guys to be pumped up to an equivalent level as us.
Even though as of now you are superior to us in combat. At least at my and somewhat higher levels, noticeable by xp gained from creatures and success in PvP.
Thank you Vaedross, for showing that the grass is not always greener on the other side. Since i found out about the FWG5 nerf I've been reading Rifleman forums and there is a ton of misinformation here. People have been comparing base T21s to krayt FWG5s, Master Pistoleers to Novice Riflemen, making claims on specials (stopping shot every second...please,) etc, etc.
All pistoleers have said is if you didnt like your T21, why did you bring the FWG5 into the argument. We used to be very sympathetic to your cause.
Just went there and gave you 5-star rating. Thank youfor the hard numbers (and the work you put in to it.) Nothing gets my goat more than this "pie-in-the-sky" crap with fictional numbers and bogus claims thatseems to be all overthese recent posts on Riflemen forum.
I will apologize to all Rifleman. I dont mean to sound so bitter but whenI read comments that imply that my profession is a breeze and then call for myprofession's tools (weapons) to be reduced...hey, things are hard enough. Especially for thoseof us who are playing the gamethe way it was intended (i.e. not using pets.) I realize thats my choice but...

and what? your top issue and fix was to cry for a pistol-nerf? That's just pathetic. And don't give me that "only trying to un-nerf the t21" line. you know very well by now that the Devs have never and will never un-nerf something, and furthermore, by comparing a base level T21 with a maxed out Krayt FWG5 you were deliberately aiming towards a nerf.
Frankly, I don't care about the changes to the FWG5. Yes, they'll hurt my game a little...but only just a little. On the other hand, they will seriously help out my business as I'm already cranking out cases of good quality FWG5's to sell after the nerf. One parting question...when the FWG5 Nerf goes active...what will riflemen truly gain? It won't fix the T21, you still have heinous melee penalties, you still have high ham costs.....how does the nerf actually make riflemen a "better" profession?It's an honest question...think about it before snapping out a flame reply.
I'm probably wasting my time trying to apply logic to these class balance threads, but they're polluting the forum I read.I'm still trying to figure out how these mystery, forum surfing devs can totally ignore our most pressing issues and constructive solutions, and come up with a petty pistoleer weapon nerf. I'd have to say you're all full of $hit. If you guys insist on awarding blame, take it to the devs like everyone else. I'd be mighty impressed if anything written here makes it anywhere of importance....it hasn't yet with the real issues.
Sympathetic to our cause? Who the hell cares? What is our cause anyway? I'm one of those rare rifleman who don't seem to have all these "insurmountable challenges" playing the class, so take your condescending demeanor elsewhere l33t-boy. In fact, had I discovered forum whining sooner maybe I'd have been transformed into a pistoleer also. Hell, if I'd had known pistols in SWG are as effective at 64m as a rifle....oh no, dev reading this exact post...nerf incoming....elite professions crying...must delete thread...
What you should be concerned about is that experimtation has changed on test centre and WS cannot get as good results (takes all the points to max one stat no matter on quality etc).
relating this as a nerf to smugglers while it may hit them harder is not really valid as they need to petition for certs etc themselves (ever heard of the correspondants?).

As one Rifleman to another I hate to say this. But what makes you think that a post you made four days ago resulted in this change on TC? If you have this kind of pull tell them to fix the bloody creature warping issue.Did it ever cross your mind that it's just a bug? If you look at the TC posts there seem to be a couple crafting issues with the last update.
Next time before you start gloating and stirring up trouble between classes (didn't we go thru this last month with the pistoleers?). Make sure you know what is going on first.
