Thread: Volsted vs. a Peko Peko Albatross
Nice Job, Im currently 0-6 vs an Albatross
1st time, Concealed shot 2 empty mind bars, with jawa ion, hit peace, warped 60m one shotted and dbed me
2nd time, in group with 5 gsp; 4 players and a stormtropper. Some bozo fired first, i was aggroed 1st one dead ranger. Not one shot fired
3rd time Hunting Giant Peko pekos south of my house, Graul out front tanking spamming Flushing2, next thing i know im dead and you've been slain by PP albatross, one had spawned on top of one of the giants i was shooting at.
4th time Conceal shot, hand slipped and landed a mind bleed. opps
5th time Feeling rather Cocky after getting master rifleman , SHOUTING down with the Peko Peko Alabtross. I charge south of kaadarra on Naboo, cover conceal shot, run out of mind rest, maulers spawn on top of me ASDF
6th I sit 40m from it for 5-10 min making sure no lairs spawn, Tuesday Night very few people in town or on search , WOOT no spawning lairs on my head, To be safe I drop a HQ camp. Get High on Moun, conceal shot. rest downner wears off another moun, its now down to 1435 ham in health 2756 in action and 1756 in mind. I have 3/4 of a 1700 mind bar left and Poof no more albatross GONE, GONE GONE, didn't warp, I areatracked It just Poofed, So being in the middle of a moun high I charged to town killing every thing in my path, it the town border and hit /quit
Since this seems to be a story thread...
I at Rifleman 2/0/0/1 decided to take this thing on for sake of the feather. 3 Graul Maulers (one out at a time) my 110-300'ish T21 and 100-240'ish Jawa Ion.
Tracked to one north of Theed - sent in the 1st Graul and hit some bleeds, HS2 with the T21 until it dawns on me to examine. 80% energy resists, nuts. By this time the Graul is pretty hurt and running around all over - but a nearby rebel camp is helping out. Bird suddenly loses interest in the Graul and warps over, incap and DB to me.
Hadn't cloned in Theed - so I take the wounds and run back. The Graul is dead and the bleed had finished it - no loot. A couple of minutes later another spawns. I duck into a nearby house and call another Mauler. Same thing except HS with the stun gun, much better. It's down to about half mind when the Graul goes down. I duck back inside the house for 30 seconds and call the second Mauler - send it in and continue to plink away. Bird eventually goes down and I get the feather.
Another spawns and I heal up two Grauls to try again. This time the bleeds aren't as good and the bird goes through one and most of another before dying (as I duck into the house every time it decides I'm the greater threat than the Graul that is doing 0 damage). Get the feather from this one too.
A fourth one spawns - my pets have lost about 8 points of vitality between them so I try to solo by house-hiding. No good as the creature heals to completion everytime the door shuts on the house. Send out a call to every commando in the area but none are interested in the bird - so I try to make a run for it. 5 feet and 5 seconds later I'm on my way to the cloning center again.
Long story short - not a good prey fora novice (but at least I got my feathers)

I have killed8 of these things not with a rifle but a flameThrower becasue they are weak to HEat so i burn them and sick my pets and they have killed me a few times but it is worth the 606 wolly hides i get.

First off, the day i surrendered my master pistoleer box was the day i gave up ever trying to take down an albatros by myself again. No heat weapon for riflemen?? WTH? I saw the pikopiko just north of theed. I ran to a nearby house, pulled out my med droid, and speed-bump (my rock beetle). Buffed myself, buffed speed-bump's action and health and ran over to the Peko-Peko. Sent in the animal, threw some body poison, started the two bleeds. As you can imagine, speed-bump lasts about 3 hits (thats why i call him speed-bump) then the albatross is after me, and it is PISSED. I am wearing full composite with good kenetic resists, so i can take 2 hits before i need to heal (I looked at the combat screen after, i took 1400 one time, and it was reduced down to about 350). I keep plugging it with stoping shot with my krayt FWG5 (Heat damage) till it goes down like a champ. 800-1400 damage once a second takes down 20k ham pretty quick, especially since there was 2 bleeds and poison working on it too.
Would i ever try to solo one now? Hell no. Energy damage is worthless against one. Is this a reason to nerf pistoleers? No. It just happens to be a creature that pistoleers have a special love for. Congrats to those of you with the patience to take one down with a rifle. Maybe if/when i make master, ill have to give it a try myself.
