Ok, the main problem with cover, which has been mentioned elsewhere, is the fact theat you have to be on level or near lvl ground for it to work. I have managed to get the same success rate with and w/o having something targeted, as long as I was on a flat section of ground and there was nothing w/i 20m of me this includes PC's, NPC's, creatures, mounts, or vehicles. As far as cover shot it seems to be luck of the draw after the first shot, however I have found, for PVE at least that if you wait until the combat music quits and then fire off another cover shot you stand a much better chance of not being discovered. I managed to do this for quite some time the other night on a Spellweaver b4 something spawned in range and broke my cover.

"The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he, who in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who would attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know my name is the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon thee."

Another thing u should no, u dont have to wait for the the shot to warm up all the way to get realize you have failed, as soon as u hear that "krunk" sound it means u failed, u can just hit your hot key again no matter how far into the shot u are and itll start over, same goes if u hear that sound while doing conceal shot. its quite simple actually, make sure nothing is w/in 20m of u, prone, and click the cover hotkey till u dont hear the "krunk" sound, u will usually hear it at the start of the warm up so u dont have to wait that long to notice u failed. it dosnt take forever to be in cover so i really dont know what all the complaining is about, maybe 15-25 seconds at most, not that long if u think about it. altho i am master, maybe it takes longer for rm who r not master...

I was just wondering when in cover and you yell things dopeople hearyou? See your bubble?

It be funny to yell at some one and them not being able to find you...sorta like that guy in Apocolypse Now during the bridge sequence. But we all know what happend to him..."Hey G.I. You gonna die now G*BOOM*".

Turrets at the moment are bugged. They will engage and start attacking you when you are within range but as long as you do not attack them or any of the NPCs you will not take any damage. Your combat log will show that it is hitting you but you will not take any damage until you attack.

Kill someone, wait a few min and see if anyone finds you, if not, kill another, preferably after the original dead person is gone

I almost get the idea they intend to leave the /tar player in as it also affects the jedi cloak ability - gives people a chance vs invisible death

I am still having loads of trouble getting /cover to work consistently. Only works one out of 12 tries or more!

Sniper shot never works!

On the rare occasions we actually manage to take cover, has anyone found it to make any difference in PvE?

So far, in my experience, each successful /concealshot from cover brings the target a little closer. If the target is an "assisting" type, any others around it go aggro and also start looking for me. Usually I get in two to three conceal shots before I'm "discovered" and fighting at point blank.

Now just try the same thing from prone, at long range, without /cover. Exact same behavior. The first 2-3 attacks bring the target closer, then they charge.

For all the trouble we have getting to use it, I don't think /concealshot does a darn thing.

Long ago they were cool. Now they're everywhere, and hard to tell apart.

New ability proposal:
/grabAndPull to get the Theed guard out of that banner

try this for how conceal could help

  • well imagine this -8 rifleman all in cover (all at least 25m away from each other in a semi circle around the target- all within 64m of target) (REALLY WISH GROUP MEMBERS DID NOT BREAK CONCEAL!)

  • all riflemen fire at the same time.

  • apply second /concealshot if needed (generally not)

now the other option

  • 2rifleman under cover on opposite sides of the target

  • 1 conceal shot,2conceal shot

  • 1 conceal shot, 2 conceal shot

  • rinse - repeat

the creature will move back and forth between the two rifleman but not approach either in the long run

With all respect Ackehece, if you've managed to arrange 8 Riflemen in a circle around a target, why use /concealShot at that point? Other attacks do more damage without the wind-up, and you get discovered just as quickly. If you regard the /cover as an advantage just for getting into position, you can achieve than on plenty of PvE targets using maskscent, Ranger camo, or simply by having not attacked yet.

And taking your proposal at face value, can you, as our correspondent, confirm that /concealShot is only supposed to be useful in groups?
