Thread: A thought from a commando
Thank you, riflemen. Even if this post the majority of you have chosen to throw away the support and friendship the vast majority of commandos on the boards, certainly on the commando profession board, have thrown your way. I myself have posted many times about the problems with the rifleman class and asked the devs to fix you.
After your behaviour of the past few days I -WILL- be the first one screaming nerf rifleman. I will scream it loudly, and long.
Good job, riflemen. Be proud. It's not every profession's members who can completely alienate their strongest supporters with their behaviour in such a short amount of time.
Really? Ha, thats funny Social... On our forums, people feel like we're the red-haired stepchildren.... well, maybe not so severe anymore...
but that no other class but Pistoleer is the dev's favorite.
Athein
*shrug* this needs to be fixed if this penalty has not also been added to the llc.

Dude, did you read the 10 or so posts above yours? Re-read them, THINK, then reconsider your post.
PS: I think I was the first rifleman to post on your boards about this subject. Read my post and last time I checked, ONE rifleman was laughing. Post Name: "How to deal with the 2.5x melee from a rifleman"
Khyras, On Bria.
Doctor/ Rifleman
"Wipe them out. ALL of them" -Devs to Riflemen
Just keep in mind that most commandos, like most of you, are sensible. Maybe one out of every 20 post in the commando forum is about some lame ass l77t d00d who just wasted a rifleman for ub7r damage that jumped on the commando bandwagon...i'm sorry i have to resort to that dumb typing...I just hope we can differentiate the lamers who derive enjoyment from the suffering of others, from the ones that want to have an enjoyable experience with the game.
Now more than ever do we need a united front, instead of just dumb asses who want to start a nerf war.
I think SOE by adding 2.5x penality to comando's pretty much summed it up that they will not be taking it out of game anytime soon, so you better get use to it.
I too thought it might a little harsh asking a profession that needs to be with in 15 meters to use a special to take that kind of penality, then I thought about it and agreed with what SOE did. Remember these same poor comando's with that penality can one shot anyone in PvP at that range. If they did not do this, no melee player would stand a chance against them.
Come on we laugh for the same reason you will be laughing in 3 months.
A guy carrying a flamethrower runing away from a pack of Capper Spineflaps.- Thats funny
Hell every time I get killed by a pack of Kreetle I laugh, its just funny no offense.
Buton a serious note we both need the 2.5 multiplyer, if we don't then we are way too overpowered. If Rifleman were easy we'd be the number one Mastered profession to get at our Master Rifleman speed bonus with our killer damage AOE.
You seen what happened with Commando, everyone you see is either
A) Changing their characters to get the flame thrower tree.
OR
B) Starting new characters to become a Commando and get the flame thrower tree
OR
C) Picking up the LLC line in BH.
Balance is needed to create diversity because without diversity the game gets boring.
Rifles are effective weapons in melee. The melee damage multiplier is baseless for rifles, except for antitank rifles. The latter are not even rifles, they are man-portable heavy weapons. AKA "Commando" weapons.
How well do you think a guy with a rocket launcher, or any other large weapon would fare when attacked by a swordsman at close range? A betcha a lot worse than a guy with a polearm, or a rifle.
For arugments sake, Commando has to take Unarmed Brawler to 4, so they should be better at defending themselves at close range by your reasoning. Using realism as a basis for game implementation doesn't work well froma balance perspective IMO. Honestly my opinion of 2.5x Melee for Commando Weapons isn't swayed heavily either way. I use my FT only if the mob is grounded or engaged and switch back to pistol, and Special HWs only from Range.
