Thread: What is the best type of armor for Riflemen to wear?
I dont pvp in this **edit** world, so for pve i wear only clothes. If i had to say what armor i was wearing i would say greater sludge panthers. ![]()
i've mentioned this in other threads, but it seems relevent here.
I went master rifle/master marksman/doctor so i could PvP and wear armor (migrated all stats to mind).
my mind stats are 1050 mind, 1100 focus, 850 willpower (human) and i wear a composite helm (about 270 mind enc.) and composite chest plate (can't remember enc). both have over 55% resists to everything 'cept stun. and the helm isn't sliced for encumberance. i also wear marauder leggings (the marauder stuff is a very good option for rifleman, pve. you only get leggings, chest plate and biceps, but it's 25% against kinetic, 15% everything important. the good thing, is there isn't more than 10 mind encumberance for any piece of marauder armor, get it from King Terak on endor, easy missions).
now, with my 'suit' of armor on, (legs chest helm) my mind is 1050, focus is about 750, will is about 550. i can still fire a LOT of specials,a nd i just hit the armor macro to regen. if somethin big is goin down, i have a Muon Gold on the hotbar.
since i'm buffed all the time (doctor myself), and not susceptible to Eyeshot, i'm very tough to bring down. you can do very well PvP (and pve) without armor (i did for a long time), but if you want to be The Man, you gotta have at least a helm for pvp, imo.
I used to fight without armor but now I use a full set of bone armor and wear it all the time. The energy resist is 25%, with 6% kinetic from voritor segments (almost meaningless). The only piece I take on and off is the helmet, since I can't heal my mind with stims. Bone gives you light armor rating and has super low ham costs, and can be made cheaply by an artisan.
Basically, you want to have a light armor rating so that when a vicious animal is trying to bite you he will see a 50% reduction in damage. When you start taking on higher level npc's such as stormtroopers andtuskens, you will want to wear an armorthat either protects against energy (stormtroopers) or kinetic (tuskens). Since a tusken warlord can rattle of consistent 400-500 damage hits you will be glad you had some kinetic armor. If you want to solo force sensitive mobs on Dantooine armor will be an absolute requirement.

If I understand armor correctly, the 6% is not meaningless at all. Without it, you have a vulnerability to kinetic, so 100% of kinetic damage gets through (nothing is blocked). With the segments, 50% is blocked by AR1 and an additional 6% is blocked by the special protection for a total of 53% protection.
Big difference between 0% and 53%.
You might try the Marauder armor from the Marauder Theme Park quest on Endor. The armor has 4 pieces, chest, upper arms, and legs. Each item is 25% kinetic, and 15% to all but stun and lightning. The cost of the items is super low, especially for mind. Each item is a 10 mind cost, and half the action cost on every piece. The health cost is about the same as unsliced Ubesse. The quest is not easy. Bring some friends and/or some good pets. My graul mauler was incapped twice just clearing the camp out. But the armor is cool, and is the only armor that actually matches the Mabari helm....Best part is its free. It has something like 30k quality.
