And the other side of the coin is that the 2.5 melee penalty is gone. We will take less damage from melee classes in the new system even without Melee mitigation.


While the change does make the laser rifle a poor choice for PVP, ti does not hit the T-21 or Jawa that hard. In fact, the E-11 comes out very well. (at least as well as most pistols).


Also, the higher end DM is in the MASTER box of the professions. So yes, our damage is reduced more against MASTER pistoleers, and Master BH. It is not reduced as much against those who dabble. the BH mods are all in the INVESTIGATION line.


Most riflemen who PvP are either masters or plan to be masters. We will have the extra protection. Most BH/pistoleers are not masters. They will not have as high a level, or will have to give up some pistol skills to get it.


This is much less a nerf as a tradeoff for us.

Before you guys start flaming mitigation, i suggest you REALLY figure out what it's going to do. It's going to reduce damage going out, yes... but it's also going to reduce damage coming in...


You're going to be able to hit lower level mobs/players harder if you are at a higher mitigation level than they are, and it ONLY applies to the damage RANGE. So, instead of seeking out the krayt enhanced weps with a huge range, the weps with higher min damage will be more desireable.


Is mitigation going to change how hard you hit? Yes.


BUT:


Is mitigation going to change how hard you GET hit? Yes.
Is mitigation going to make you hit harder at master than at novice? YES!


So, the little dabblers that play to get uber (i.e. 0040 commando) will no longer be as uber without getting level mitigation which comes at master.


Mitigation is going to be good - although it will hurt at first, just give it some time to see the benefits.

I don't have a problem with this.

I have a problem with this:

Laser Rifle: looses 80% of average damage due to Ranged mitigation.
FWG5: looses 20% of average damage due to Ranged mitigation.

The numbers are just made up, but fact is the mitigation hits rifleman the hardest becasue of our high damage range on our weapons. And I really don't see ANY reason why they decided to reduce damage RANGE instead of average damage other than to NERF rifleman.

Give me a good reason, and I'll change my mind. But this is a Rifleman nerf.

I always thought the tusken looked cool... And yet another reason the Jawa is becoming my best friend, they make rifles with small ranges. Thanks small hooded men!
