I take it you guys all hunt Pikets for the meat too? Personally I got all my Rifle XP shooting Mereks on Endor - they have 0% resist to Energy (I think Piket is 10-15% cant remember) and they give 4.5-5k per kill,
As for solo'ing Creatures without pets I have never tried it although i never use my pets anymore on Storm troopers etc - Strafe2 2-4 times and there mostly all dead - pets just make NPC's run away which is bloody ennoying,
If I remember correctly Merek's have energy vulnerability. If so, because of the AP/AR bug you are probably doing less damage than you would to a Piket on average.
I use to use the ConcealShot on the Pikets. This weekend I did something different that was a lot faster. Get at about 60m and go prone. Use HeadShot1 and HeadShot2 on a Piket. Stand up and pull back to about 120-130m. Once the bleed "ticks" the Piket will agro and come towards you. Once the Piket is in range then throw WarningShot at it to keep it away.
You have to keep aware though. Sometimes it will aggro more than one Piket. In that case switch to the other Piket and throw WarningShot at it too to push it away. Just use WarningShot and auto-attacks. Once the Piket bleeds down to 1 mind point any hit thereafter will drop it.
There are a couple of bugs you have to watch out for. The MOB's will jump in ranges. Sometimes closer and sometimes farther away. Also if the MOB gets to far away it will disappear from your radar. However it's still there and still bleeding. So there are times you will get the fight music but it won't show on your radar until it's pretty close.
Use a Laser Rifle or T21 for the bleeds. Then switch to something low HAM cost for the WarningShot. I use a DLT20a for WarningShot and auto-attacks on the lairs.
I've found that this method is much faster than just using ConcealShot. I'd also recommend Breath of Heaven. It will decrease the HAM costs for using specials by 40-50%.
You can solo a lot offaction missions at 1001. Go prone, MS1+MS2, peace, move away to 85+m, prone, wait for bleed, wait for NPC to come in range and Dizzy, get up and move away. This will cause the NPC to knockdown fairly often. You can then finish them off at your leisure.
Use a probot. They are pretty darn useful.

The best weapons? Simple. It is patience and strategy.
Well, if you say July weapons, I assume you did this back then? Back then when a lot of creatures were non-social, so you could fight them one-on-one? Back then it was surely possible.
These days, it's still possible. But I doubt it's possible to do it effectively without pets. (and if being a Master CH and using your pets still counts as "soloing" is very different depending who you ask). Anyway. If you want to solo, and not use pets, and not use conceal shot, you have to find something that you can either kill before it kills you, or something you can kite. In both cases, this means that you will be much less efficient than if you were non-soloing (though I personally think that you can do way better than conceal shot in a group or with pets anyway).
However, if you are happy hunting low level stuff that you can kill quickly, or have some other combat skills to kill them when they close in, or are good at pulling and kiting and bleeding, then you can still do it.
I would not recommend doing it, because you can get your xp, money, hides, Holocrons or whatever your reason to hunt is faster and easier then soloing without a pet. However, it will be certainly a bigger accomplishement if you did it solo. Even bigger if you did it solo after the social patch. If that "special honor" is worth spending more effort into leveling / hunting, you have to decide for yourself. I personally don't htink it is, but others will disagree.
