Thread: How many hunt without armor or buffs. . .?

I alway shunt without armor or buffs. Armor sucked up my HAM (which is a big prob as a Rifleman/SL), and buffs I just never get around to getting. Usually just me and my rifle, or a couple of friends.

I have to have buffs, but I do without them when I must. I can't find an ID to get my Health/Action above 400 each

I try to wear armor only when neccessary. If I PvP(not often), I do not wear armor if my opponent does not. In PvE, I do my best to do without it. DWB/Corvette/Etc require it but STs sure don't. It's soooo ugly- I prefer my Aakuan robe or a dress withmy NS bicep

When you target the mob, you should see your 'range' from it in little brackets in the target box. I guess that's your question. And to answer the thread question, I also prefer hunting w/o armor and w/o doctor buffs. I use food/drink to help w/ my HA regeneration and use Vasarian Brandy and Canap to enhance my mind pool. Garmorrl, Cusjo Swirl, Brandy, Canap (gotta watch the filling, but it all fits). I have a duster, paramilitary camo pants, form fitting shirt, and backpack w/ some melee def/cover/camoflauge/ranged def and maybe another stat or so. But luckliy everything I've fought thus far has dropped before it can do any serious damage to me. I have an LE repair droid I send in first. I layed waste to a group of about 12-15 tuskans in a matter of about 30 seconds at a rummaged village out in the desert. The droid took 95% of the dmg they shelled. Some snipers, some raiders, a captain, granted my droid had to be repaired afterward, but he focused the fight so I could go in and strafe2 the area before they could zero in on me. Spamming strafe2 w/ the food/drink combo I mentioned my mind was full, and my HA was around 3/4 w/ a halfway decent T21.

A droid and some food/drink buffs just help to even the playing field a little. And it's a blast, it's not god mode so there's still some danger which is really lacking these days.

You can go w/o any buffs, but it will truely take much more time. I did it this way w/ an occasional brandy up 90% of the rifleman tree. Once you get more rifle speed tho, you have to compensate w/ SOME buffs (food/drink) in order to use your best specials w/ any effectivness. I love this profession, I hope it's still this effective after the CB.

Irarely use armor or buffs, including in PvP. I use powerboost and things like brandy and synthsteak, and usually throw on my composite helmet during PvP, but I hate the whole premise behind specifically buffs in PvP that are as outrageous as the doctor buffs are currently in game. I don't think we shoudl have to travel to a populated area, pay 10-12k and then wait for another 10 minutes just to be able to PvP. I'm getting mad just thinking about it.

Ah, the good old days of death by nuna.

It always amazes me how many of us riflemen have been holding a rifle since launch.

PsychoticChipmunk, you should write a book about your struggles and trials asa a Rifleman in SWG.

Seriously, thanks for the input.

You can master rifles without ever getting buffed or putting on armor. I did it, and if I can do it, anyone can.

Just have to be careful and pick your fights. People will advise the use of conceal shot. I didn't get the conceal tree until last so I can't speak to the effectiveness of it for extensive leveling. I used headshot1 and then headshot2 when I got it -- I've never cared for headshot3, don't consider it that great of an improvement over hs2.

I started as a scout, so my technique was to use mindshot from 64m, and back off to 80m or so. When it ticks you'll get aggro from that single target. As it charges you, use headshot, and a phecnacine dart to slow the beastie. Near as I can tell this slows not only their attack speed, but their movement rate as well. Finish him while he's slowed. Lather, rinse, repeat.

Also, even though you get the T21 cert at novice rifleman, unless you get a killer speed slice on it, I would stick with a laser rifle. Its faster firing rate will keep your unarmored self alive when you might have gotten killed using the beefier but much slower T21. You'll be frustrated when you get hits on the low end of the laser's damage range, but its firing rate will make up for it. Once you get a ways up the abilities tree, say 2 or so, slap a 33% speed pup on a T21, and let fly.

For mind food you can get ahrisa which buffs focus -- the one I use is +389 for 41m -- and vagnerian canape (sp?)which buffs all mind stats I think (never used it so don't quote me). And don't forget spice. A little muon gold or neutron pixie can save you when things get ugly, which they inevitably will. Just remember the downer, especially if you are unbuffed.

I drink some brandy, do powerboost from TKM and just use bleed to pull guys out one at a time when i can not find anyone to buff me..

Which brings me to my next question. Ranging. Is it just guesstimation or is there a way to actually range. I'm thinking by the numbers on the side of the target's HAMS. Am I right, or way off?
