I used a template very similar to the orginal posters once before, and it worked quite well. I however like having a melee; profession at mastery level to go with Rifleman. Now, I'm not suggesting my way is better, it's simply what I prefer. At any rate, the stacked template above is a good one

You're vulnerable do dots. I made the template mRifle / doc 4040 / pike 0030 a while ago on another server,but didn't get a chance to test it in pvp (I did solo a giant krayt though heh). Thing is, with this you can heal dots and states, so state defenses are not a priority. This build is very vulnerable to jedi though, unless you have a nasty pike (and you get a kd move at pikeman 0030 I think).

That is why I have chosen to go with TKA over Pike.

Personally (no offence to pikeys!) I think the extra Block is worthless, and it would be better to have the advantage of Unarmed toughness from TKA.

That is the only effective defence (other than insane dodge etc) against Jedi IMO.

i'm trying this, minor changes but get the +99 rifle speed (with force melee speed bonus - still to test this out mind)
