ROFL ! Ok..so...buffs going down, armor going down, weapon strength going down.

That is a nerf.

High End Mob Soloing will come to an end and the game will die. As much as SOE doesn't want to admit it, solo kiling is what makes this game stay afloat. I RARELY see any pvp from 7 am to like...easy 3 pm when some ppl come back from work, depending on their schedule. What do the rest of the population do ?

I sure as hell will not be hunting Mokks or Jantas when I get off work. I finish at 7am in the morning, get home, buff up and kill some dragons. If I don't have that option, meh...soe loses 5 accounts. SOE might want this game to revolve around pvp, but their doing a piss poor job of it so far.

2 questions:

  1. How is the end of high mob solo'ing a bad thing?

  2. Please explain the cause and effect you see here because in all honesty I don't even see a corellation.

Solo'ing a krayt is a bad thing ( ) it makes high end content seem like a relaxing jaunt through the bushes. Everyone wants more and more things to do in this game but forget everything that exists. Tell me, when was the last time youwandered the Agrilat swamp and drall cave? Was it fun where you had to stay on your toes and think or an afk grind in order to get novice TK?

When was the last time you touched foot to Talus or Rori? Do you even know what's on those worlds or not care because the critters there are low xp and easy to kill unbuffed and unarmored?

Have you ever fought a stormtrooper wearing nothing but a pair of hotpants? Unbuffed, unarmored, basically bare ass naked as if you just fell off the lambda?

All of those things are fun and challenging if buffs where down, armor was down, and you had a weaker weapon. You won't be the uberest l33t 4dk2lj5lk@30 !!!!111!1!!!marmaset!1!!dood there is with the biggest wad but you'll have something to do for fun that doesn't involve dragons that should kill you with a sneeze.

Know what? I take it back, this will be a nerf. It'll be a nerf to all the powergamers that have to have instant gratification and have it every minute or else the game fails.

That's why we had 2 motto's in the old days. Of all the things I've lost I miss my mind the most, and we kill ourselves before we kill you. The carbineers took our latter one though even with our HAM costs staying the same, brandy just masks it all.

Tell me, did you have on your high res comp armor at the time? Never fire specials in armor (let alone a full suit of high encumb) if you don't have at least muon.

Do you really think dragons were meant to be soloed? Most of us have been bored to tears with the combat in this game because there is no challange anymore. Uber buffs and Armor ruined any chance that you would feel a rush of danger. Now I just start shooting till whatever attacked me is dead - no fear - just x amount of mins to kill y creature. Remember creatures will also get a pass during the curb to change their stats.

an example I can give outside of the CURB forumsisKrayt Ancient Heavy Armor 300k ham... We know Armor is being changed so it will not be Heavy Armor - it will just be Armor. Is this a nerf to the players? Or to the Dragon?

Relative power is currently hard to see - with no testing and little info you can not call a change a nerf.

And Rifle Since Launch -have no plans to change after the CURB.

I was a master rifleman a little while back, but dropped it like a retarded monkey. So now i am remastering it, for grinding jedi and I enjoy hunting krayt. I've always liked hunting krayt, killed a spawn of five with the guild back in the newb days of everyone, days i don't want to go back to. You people who complain about powerhouses, saying you should enjoy rori, talus, etc...., YOU do that, don't push the CURB that will make others not enjoy this game. SOE shouldn't dictate what players do, AKA trying to make us pvp by making pvp the center of SWG. CURB can come, but i don't think nerfs are necessary. A lot of friends will leave, and atm non-jedi can't compete very well against anything higher than a master ls without the uber equipment. Whole reason i'm going jedi, don't see any of them nerfed. My apologies ahead of tiem if i offend anyone.

I chose rifleman because I think it's a fun and very cool profession. Because of that I will stay a rifleman until I no longer enjoy it. I really could care less about being the best or having the best template. I chose my professions based on what I have fun at. I think that's one of the reasons that I've been around so long. It's all about having fun remember.

I've had an Artillery mentality since long before I wasa Gun Bunny in the Army. I like to have the long reachwith the big punch, and I'm willing to have a glass jaw to balance it out. To me, that's fun.

For now, that's a Rifleman. If our theme doesn't change with the CURB, then I'll still be a Riflemaneven if it's weaker than it is today.

Alright, but then explain why the developers should appease the powerhouses who complain about no content? And who here is saying you should never be able to hunt a krayt? I'm saying you should never be able to hunt a krayt while alone. Want to do the same things you do now with ease post CURB? Sounds like fun, and interactive fun since now you're going to need to have more then 2 jedi and a TKM tanker to do it. I play the game according to my own rules. I do all the things that I mentioned above, and have a blast doing them because of the challenge. I could stand there and not have to worry about being damaged, would only cost me 10k, but where is the fun in that? How do you enjoy this game if all you do is loop a macro while buffed and watch TV?

SOE shouldn't dictate what a player does, this is true, but they should dictate what a player can do. There is a difference. Will I wear a blue shirt or a red shirt? CSR's don't log in and demand the removal of my nefarious blue shirt and ban me if I don't. Will I fight with a rancor (and win hands down) or fight with a stormie (and win with some risk) that is something that depends on many factors in the game controlled by development. How powerful weapons can be crafted, the powerful amount of buffs, the lvl armor can be reached with slicing etc. Alter these and my character can still go out and kill anything he chooses. It just means that the situations to go about killing it have changed.

You said your friends will leave the game, why? Is it because the game is now challenging in a new light? Because they can't look at everything existing on Corellia and just shrug it off, knowing they could stand there for hours and not get a scratch anymore? Because they'll have to interact with other friends to do the high end content (rancors, krayts, etc) now? Why would someone quit a gamewhen itbecomes more challenging and interesting?

Could you possibly explain how to fix combat without 'nerfing' things? Make it so armor is a pre-requisite to kill a durni? That way everything is evened out, just at the extreme god-mode end of the spectrum instead of realistic? Make mind buffs more powerful and all 3 bars healable? This way a fight will truly never end, and trust me I've seen 15 minute duels that only ended because both guys got bored. Introduce even more powerful areas like the death watch bunker so people have to go to specific spots to find hard and challenging fights (although the bunker has been beaten a lot) rather than making all the creatures and NPC's everywhere more powerful relative to you?

As per jedi, yeah I'm not going to go there because this isn't the place.

I see your point chipmunk, but i think I have another of my own to make. To start, I have played since launch, and the game has gotten better the more powerful I am. I've spent a long time, almost the whole time ive played, designing my template. I have finally found the template I fell is the best for me, meaning I enjoy it and its uber. My friends have done the same, most of them playing over a year as well. I'm saying many of us will be apt to leave when the power we have devoted most of our time this past year to acheiving. I'm not against CURB because it will make the game challenging again, if i wanted to do that id go out no armor or buffs and try to survive. I enjoy not feeling like a newb anymore, if I want to feel like one again I'll move to WoW.

If people complain because there is not content so they nerf us all, thats not fair. Some of us have become super powerful, Rifleman is one of the ways, and we enjoy it and see plenty to do here. No one I have ever heard of can solo the DWB, and its near impossible to solo an ancient with a rifle out.

As in fixing without nerfing, I spoke wrong in my last post. I don't see anything wrong with the game at the moment, while others may. Buffs are a problem for every prof. Hunting alone is fun, and at times all someone can do. Your server may be busier, but at times on gorath, it gets pretty dead. So, when i'm on and no one else I know is on,will that mean all i can do is hunt little stuff on the starting planets until someone logs on, when what I want to do is hunt high end mobs. One of the main reasons many people i know stay in SWG is killing tough spawns on their own or with a single friend. Well, good afternoon to all, and don't get too mad at me for expressing my opinions as well.

You get a free retemplating, and with a semi-open beta and test center trials you'll be able to figure out what the new template would be. You keep the power, the power is just less relative to todays standards.

No one I have ever heard of can solo the DWB, and its near impossible to solo an ancient with a rifle out.

Go master pistoleer instead, or other professions that are primarily broken and have strengths that are negotiable currently. For instance pistols have low damage buthigh melee defense and low HAM costs. Rifles have high HAM costs and hardly any defense outside of ranged, but we hit hard (unhealable) so the two even out. Rock paper scissors essentially with different roles. However, you can wear armor now as a rifleman that would destroy your mind in 2 special shots unbuffed. (assuming you could even equip it)

This means our melee defense just got upped to about the same as a pistoleer and with brandy our high HAM costs dropped to their levels as well. Now we have high DPS and they have low DPS and all the other intricacies are gone. As well as the creature changes that made damage per second and armor piercing higher up on the need list. This is basically all the points explained to beat back nerf calls but it really sums up the problems with combat as it stands overall.

Yes, the DWB and krayts etc need at least a few friends on. An efficient bunker buster takes 3 jedi, 4 tanks, 2 docs, the crafter, and just about anything else for fluff/fun. There are 3 places like this in the game, 1 of them being instanced so you have to schedule it in more or less, wouldn't it be great if there where dozens and dozens of 'em? Well they exist. The afarathu and drall patriot cave, Nyax's place, the rogue corsec base; what if all of those where suddenly hard to pull off? There'd be options and tons of things to do with friends just because you're bored, and those are just Corellian ones.

As in fixing without nerfing, I spoke wrong in my last post. I don't see anything wrong with the game at the moment, while others may. Buffs are a problem for every prof. Buffs are a problem for everything. They remove every single negative or con that exists in the game. Armor used to have a pro and a con with encumberance, now it has a pro and a cost: 10k for docs and whatever you tip an entertainer. This also means you can wear multi-layered armor all over instead of shoring up vulnerable spots in certain situations. We can wear invulnerable (80-90%) armor as a full suit with no negatives. That is sheer insanity. Expand your horizons and meet new people. The 10 minute, then 5 minute shuttle wait let me have chats with people that later became friends. Now that it's 1 minute you really can't meet up there but there are still hubs in the galaxy to find random people that can become something more. Hunt partners, loot friends, that cool guy who happens to be on right now; hey maybe I should give him a /tell. One of the main reasons many people i know stay in SWG is killing tough spawns on their own or with a single friend. What's wrong with expanding this to be with a single group of friends. Spread the lovin'. Well, good afternoon to all, and don't get too mad at me for expressing my opinions as well.

I'm not and please don't take it that way. I just truly disagree with you on this and feel I should respond to shed some light as to why. Might persuade you to see the game from a different perspective, probably not but still. In either case +1 post count

the CURB *is* a nerf, it's just a nerf to everyone. They can put fancy names like "upgrade" or "rebalance" but in the end, they are making everyone weaker. PvP may be better off for it, but say goodbye to high-end mob soloing.

Whaaa... Grow up. You sound like one of these Jedis, whining that they can't be uber-133t and insti-kill anything in the game. You know, you actually should not be able to solo anything in the game. If the CURB changes that, then it is all for the better.

who the hell is whining about anything? ahahaha, I was just stating the facts, spazz. I look forward to the CU with anticipation.

and there was much rejoicing...
