This related to the tanking bug(?) issue?

I posted this on the CH/BE forum too.

My question was, how viable are pets still as tanks on the CU test server?

I got the response that as long as you didnt out damage your pet the aggro would be taken (tanked) by your pet.

This means that non-CH high HAM tank pets will be pretty much useless now. In fact, non-CHs will have little use for pets except as mounts or decorations.

Incidentally, it seems this aggro thing is an issue elsewhere too. It was posted on the rifles forum that we (riflepeople) automatically become tanks when we enter a fight. The mob will stop attacking whoever it is attacking even if it is in melee.Thegroup'stanks can taunt as much as they like, but the mob will rush the rifleman!? I wonder if these -rifle as tank/ pet as useless tank -are related and bugged?

So could the tanking issue be related to damage? Melee tankers are not causing as much damage as us. When we enter the fight we draw aggro. And, meleers cant /taunt back again (this is where the bug seems to be).

It is directly related to damage because of the Hatred system that is currently on TC. Hate boils down to a MOB will attack whatever damages it the most. The devs have recently put in a Hate draw to medics healing other players damaging the MOB. I have seen this work with a medic healing my noob toon, however I have not tested this yet with my Master Rifleman toon.

Ok, so the bug is the failure of the /taunt then.

Acke, something you might want to get on your list is that if weapons remain certed at a combat level and not actual skill boxes, then a Rifleman will be grinding almost exclusively with an E11 Rifle at level 21 (or 22, can't remember) until they get the Beam Rifle at CL 30 (yes, it currently gives Rifle xp, but this could be a bug. Who knows?) It's an awful long time at the same DPS though.

OK, here's the update with the new patch. Beam, Lightning and Proton (still given out by the froggies as rifles) all have appropriate non-rifle skill prereqs in SL, BH and Commando. Here's the current rifle availability chart (with * indicating kinetic damage, and () indicating skill/race prereqs)

Lvl 10: SG-82, Recon Bowcaster* (Rifles 4, Wookiee)

Lvl 14: Spraystick

Lvl 22: E11

Lvl 30: Massassi

Lvl 40: Tusken*, Berserker*, Tenloss DXR-6b

Lvl 50: Jawa Ion, LD-1*, Explosive Shell Sniper*

Lvl 54: T-21 (Master Rifle), Adv. Laser (Master Rifle), Assault Bowcaster (Master Rifle, Wookiee)

Issues:

1. Massassi is a gateway weapon? I thougth it was supposed to be a rare antique? In any event, many rifepeople are going to be unhappy about essentially being forced to use a gun they don't like. (I don't mind it myself, but I know the majority are not fans...)

2. Loooong way from 14 to 40 to get another Kinetic weapon.

Recommendation to address BOTH 1 and 2: move Tusken Rifle down to lvl 30, especially since Berserker is available with Kinetic damage at 40.

3. LD-1 and ESSR have essentially same stats on froggy: both are kinetic, unrestricted lvl 50 weapons. Adv. Laser and T-21 also have eseentially same stats (in fact identical, atm): both are energy, Master Rifle restricted. So essentially, the difference is just the look? Silliness. Thereshould be a Master-level kinetic rifle.

Recommendation to address 3: move Adv. Laser to Lvl 50 unrestricted, and move up either LD-1 or ESSR to Master Rifle.

That's just off the top of my head. Any other concerns?

Great idea

I logged onto TC4 Bria and looked at some of the converted stats. I have some very nice T21s that under the current system have about 530 damage unpupped. Under the new conversion they were over 1000 damage. The ones available from the frogs only had mid-800s damage. Perhaps the differences will become apparent when we see crafted items.

Good morning folks, been testing out master rifleman stacked with master pistoleer and 4004 BH and I must say I have +295 accuracy and +190 melee def and +200 ranged def. I am not sure how weak we are to be honest up close, I am able to tank an enraged rancor no problems with recon armor on, and I can run around spamming in duels and I never miss. So I guess what I am trying to say is that I don't see the proposed weakness an up close rifleman was suppose to have. I dueled a master tka / master swords / master brawler last night and various other melee stacking combinations and none of them can beat me in 1 vs 1 duels. I am in prone postition during these duels and they start by standing right beside me...... sooooo I think I am going to keep my template as it will probably own jedis and everyone else alike. I don't see how someone is going to beat me if I can start by Taking Cover first, it will be easy to camp starports with it, houses, lots of things! Anyways I am testing tanking a krayt this morning with this template and will let you guys know how I do!! Riflemen for the win!!

I'm kind of confused by the lack of elemental damage now. All most of our rifles seem to be now is just different skins on energy and kinetic as we level up.

I thought the goal was to make combat more tactical, use the right weapon on the right thing.

On TC4Bria, my Jawa also does electrical damage. I think perhaps the other elemental damage stuff may be something WS can add in to the weapon. Just a guess though. Anyway confirm this?

So.... what is the verdict. I keep crashing when I get into TC. I cant test my template out. I do know a level 31 plains tusk cat lair, sent me to the cloner after three incaps before I could tap the lair, with a doctor level buff on.

Is Master rifles worth keeping if you can only afford one combat profession to go with yourcrafting?

Of course I know there are substantial bugs and what we see now is not guaranteed to be on live, just some more rifle experts views.

Just to add to the Bug list on the Cover/perma-invisible issue.

Once you are perma-invisible you cannot Harvest, cannout mount Bike or Creature mount, cannot take a shuttle, cannot leave the planet because you cannot board the ship at the starport.

So once you become perma-invisible you are stuck on the planet you are on and are limited to foot travel.

Well I hesitated to post this but decided I had to..................

Just because a rule exists that does not mean it is something good.

The founding father's of the USA broke all kinds of rules when they decided to form the Republic. They knew when they did so there would be hell to pay and most of them paid with their lives. However, by breaking those rules they created a new nation that, while not perfect, was a place of such freedom it inspired millions of others to imigrate to in search of a better life.

If it weren't for someone standing up and saying that a rule was not good and should be abolished the USA would not exist today! I admire what the AS correspondont has done. He knew he would pay a price but at the same time he could not just simply sit by while things were shoved down our throats. He should be commended for his actions and I for one applaud his efforts.

Please understand that I do know there are other avenues to take in order to affect change. Such as a peaceful dialogue with the Devs. But if it comes to a point that the Devs simply say "we know you have concerns but we are making this change in spite of those concerns" then we are left with only 2 choices.

1) Meekly accept the changes they give us

2) Fight back in whatever way we can

The way I see it the AS corr chose the 2nd option and yes he paid the price. Banning him from the forums was within the power of the Devs and proper for them to do so. Deleting his posts and trying to delete all the copied posts thereafter just shows their lack of character and that they were frightened to death by his actions. Banning him from the game was entirely inexcusable, even if it is not a permanent ban. That action shows the Devs total lack of class, period.

I see a lot of people that accept option 1 and try to polish the turd they are handed. No matter how much you try to polish it though a turd is still a turd and stinks!

again... stop being stupid (sorry but you've pissed me off today)

This is a address that covers all topics related to rifleman CU or nonCU related. Most of our news lately has been CU related because that is what is happening to us right now. It will continue post CU. I figured that was pretty obvious oh well.
