since your looking to hunt down single critters and arent using it for PVP the accuracy you get at novice rifles is more than enough plus the huge bonus you get from the hunting line of ranger will make up or lack of accuracy line in rifles.

rifles are not close in weapons and the problem your going to have is "how do i kill this thing that is chewing on me?!??!?"

the most efficient method is headshot. the problem is that the time multiplier for headshot is pretty large. to offset that the answer is 0003. you get a area attack and use of mindshot1 bleeds to easily single pull most animals. and a nice focused attack in headshot2. couple that with a uber fast T21 or a laser rifle that is also fast prefereably in the 4-4.9 speed range and you will do fine in taking out single critters at close range.

as stated before the problem with rifles is that it is anti-dabble. the only useful way to dabble in rifle is to get your accuracy bonuses elsewhere as your doing with scout and ranger and then focus on the speed line and rely mainly on the marksmen specials of headshot2 and mindshot1

you will not be good at PVP of any sort do to missing speed and accuracy and the higher damage specials. you can successfully dabble in rifles for monster hunting smaller game but you wont be of much use in a group hunt on big dangerous game.

You've given me new hope [the thought of hunting fauna with a pistol just seems so wrong]. Does it help at all to swap out to a spraystick when a mob closes? Does the increased speed make up for the drop in damage?
