Thread: Startle Shot: Confirmation of Delay??
You can use Startle Shot on a target, just as Sniper Shot finishes recharging, then immediately queue up your Sniper Shot. Startle Shot will go off, delay your target for around 5 seconds, which is long enough for the recycle on SniperShot, plus it's windup period. Means you can't be interrupted during the shot by your target and you're also not getting damaged during that time. And your target gets a good solid thwack for his trouble.
It bears further testing, but it may not be quite as useless as I had thought.
It should either last longer if it breaks on damage, or last around 5 seconds without it breaking.
The "nerf" should have been along the same line as the knockdown nerf - once applied, it cannot be reapplied within a certain timeframe.
The current implementation means you can just keep firing Startle at something and the delay will never ever wear off. The only difference is that now you can't intermix it with proper damage shots.

Yeah you see the Startle icon right below the targets name but you'd better look fast because it won't last long. I have yet to see any real usefullness for this shot.
startle shots delay is removed on damage - so it will go away quick if you use the shot and then immediately after shoot the person again.

I was using this last night: adv startled shot + adv head shot with my carbine equipped this combo shut down my mobs attacks including its area attack. This combo with my carbine uses very little action so I can spam it well when low on action. The reuse timer on both is low so I can continually spam startle/headshot non stop with no waiting in between. When used with kiting, I was taking almost no damage at all.
Without using startle shot I would be at half my health when the fight is done with the same mob.
I would say startle shot is one of my favorites also !!!
Havent tried it in PvP yet though.

It should have been left without breaking on damage and just had a timer after application during which it could not be reapplied.
well..nerfed or not: im CM/Carbineer and have made a duel with a lvl 65 MR...i had no chance. The only thing he did is spamming Startle shot...damage nerf?...who cares if u do "only" 400 dam when ur oponent cant strike back?! It was sad and boring...combat balance?! ROFL...more tactical playin? (spamming ONE shot is no tactic in my opinion)...fun? ZERO. duel was made to test it out (no food and stuff)...i couldnt attack, heal, throw poisons or anything...
