Thread: From a master rifleman, trust me it's worth it in the end.
Strafe Shot 2 is AOE but that HAS to be a bug. It makes no sense to have a Rifle doing AE damage. I think they should add HS 3 to master rifleman AND keep strafe shot but turn it into single target. That would help us in groups (sort of) and give us something to shoot for the Master Rifleman level.
I disagree that all off the Rifleman stuff is worthless except the HS and MS
With each advance in Rifle Ranged weapons you get plus 10 speed. Thats nice. Plus Flurry Shot is very nice, I use it all the time whenever a NPC changes position. I am also a CH so its a little better for me. Flurry shot doesnt always work though..buts its nice to get a knockdown.
People complain riflemen are overpowered because they see the headshots for 3000. Every time a mob gets within melee distance we are pretty much dead.
We are the EQ Rogues of SWG. Highest damage but worst defenses.

It's not head shots that are hitting for 3k. It's STRAFE SHOT 2. Im telling you, when you get it, you will realise how good it is as an AOE shot.
As for xp spots, I'm sorry but nearly all the spots I used are no longer available. I did quenkers in the Jedi cave (pathing bug) then jaxes, then baz lair strafing. After the Baz nerf I would catch 5 at a time in the ravine and MS them all and collect 25k xp rinse and repeat. The rest was gotten from random stuff on endor with a pet tanking.
StandUpWookie why exactly does having a AOE in the rifleman line not make sense? If your answer is in any way based off real life, dont waste your time answering. Using anything based off RL when discussing a game seems idiotic, expecially one based off of science fiction.
See StandUpWookie most of us understand that SWG's end game is faction PvP, and what you want to do is remove the best **edit** attack we have for PvP so that you could have a better dueling/xp attack?

Yup, the AoE for Strafe Shot 2 is pretty awesome. But urm, seriously, its sucking my mind like mad. I'm a human and the best Focus I could get is 600 so if I'm really intending to kill something, I have to glup down some Grey Gabaki and start spamming my Strafe Shot2.
For some real spamming without spices, I'll use my good old Dlt20 which only cost 24 mind to shoot. The laser cost around 50 so its not really nice. I killed a tusken king in 2 shots cos of some bug which made my AoE attack concentrate on the king alone which does out 18k damage. There's a few tuskens around him but all the shots that are suppose to hit the tuskens ended up on the King. This happens quite randomly so I'm not quite sure how I pulled it off either.
Laser with Strafe 2 can deal out around 3k plus damage per hit.
Yeah Strafeshot is cool... but it sure as hell isn't 150 MIND cool. 50 mind/50 action cool is more like it.
Yes, God forbid they make the game ANYTHING like what the real Star Wars universe would be like. I hope that soon we'll have pink bunnies flying out of our rifles.
I mean, come on. If you just want StrafeShot2 because it's powerful then say so. But don't go under some guise that SOE has a duty to intentionally make the game unrealistic. Art imitates life and the next time you see a person using a sniper-type rifle firing multiple shots at multiple people in fast successionyou let me know.
Zarlok, you're seriously saying everyone is supposed to be firing the exact same speed with every weapon type when they get high enough? Not a bug?
If you totally ignore the fact how overpowered it is to shoot a T21 once a second, the better way to tell how screwed up it really is, is how it affects different weapons and their balance. When you get a high enough speed mod weapon speed will become totally irrelevant, just some stat you dont have to pay attention to. It entirely screws up the balance between different weapontypes that are generally balanced by some sort of overall dps, anything but the highest damage type weapon will become mostly useless, and most of all do you realize how much it affects balance between say, a pistoleer and rifleman? As a rifleman you'll basically get a 1000% dps increase from the speed mods compared to the pistols who get maybe 200%

As for the speed it is workings as intended. You might argue that the design is flawed, but it is NOT A BUG. Calling it a bug is misrepresenting the supposed problem, it could be called a design flaw, but most definately not a bug.
I will say this again about the AE, stop trying to warp a profession to your wants, but adjust to the strengths of that profession. I and many others picked this class for the AE's, because we knew the power it will have in PvP. I sure didnt pick this class in the hope that they would remove these AE's to give me a harder hitting head shot.
