Thread: DC15 Clone trooper rifle (and other rifles) in RotW files

Is it just me, or is this thing (the DC-15) built on an old German G3 machinegun frame?(Note the verydistinctive curved buttplate on the stock...). The DC I tke it is meant to represent the rifles the stormtroopers used in EP4? All the most iconic and convincing weapons in the SW universe - at least those from the original trilogy - were built on RL weapons frames. The E11 was a Sterling submachine gun (reason enough that it should be a carbine, not a rifle, but I know I'll get lynched forsaying that...), the DL44 was a Mauser automatic pistol witha rifle sight and muzzle flare bolted on and the clip removed...
The T-21 was a Lewis machinegun with the top-mounted ammo drum removed. There's also a scene in ANH with a Stormie holding a rifle that looks likea converted MG42 machinegun. That's one of the things that made Star Wars weapons so distinctive...familiar, yet different. ![]()
Slim Vargo, Corbantis
In game the CDEF carbine art is just like the standard blaster for the Republic. And the CDEF pistol is like the Blaster Leia used, with out the huge flash suppresor.
If you scroll down on this page you'll see them side by side.
Let us not forget that a carbine is a short rifle, lol.
I used to have some links about what some of the guns where made out of, I need to find them.
I'm with you on that. Episodes I and II came off looking very much like Flash Gordon... intentionally done IMHO. I don't like that gaudy look at all, but I'm sure many people thought it elegant and lucious. To each his own. :-) Personally, I feltthe only visual cliches missing were the "bubble gum" gun with the 3 concenric rings around the barrel /w the little bulb on the tip -- oh andthe bullet-shapedrocket with 3 red banana shaped tails, and ladder extended.Again, not toknock Ep I and II,just statingmy own personal taste. Hopefully by the end of episode three we'll see the good old gritty, function-before-form look of the original trilogy.

Yeppers! A design ethic I'd wished they'd held onto for the new trilogy. Have you ever seen anything as wildly impractical as the Republic blaster? Sure, it looks pretty (in a 50's retro sort of way), but it's compeltely non-functional ergonomically - it'd slip in your hand any tiem you tried to pull the trigger. The new stuff ended up looking more Star Trek than Star Wars (/shudder).
Hopefully Ep3 continues their gradual shift towards an original-trilogy design esthetic.

funny though, that in the starwars universe the E11 mostly get referenced as a Rifle
You're loosing your right pinky for mentioning it to be a carbine >=]

The one thing that slightly bugs me about the CDEF pistol... is just that, seeing as WSs can't modify CDEF weapons (last time I played as one anyway) which means we can't add the nice flashy suppressor on the end... even though if you go in the guildhalls where the trainers are, if you look behind the counter where the WS trainer is, you will see some with the supressor on...
I know that is kinda off-topic in a rifleman forum... so I will just add... *Drools at DC15 Clone Trooper Rifle pic*
Whilst not being totally okay with all the 'prequel' stuff being added, that does look rather a nice addition, mainly because as stated by previous people it is more inline with the OT than the PT.
As for the comment about the german rifle, if I remember rightly it has also been stated that the a lot of the OT weapons were based on old war guns, the E11 was an old rifle(forgot which one)with bits of it sawn-off and acouple ofother mods that were created using otherIRL weapon items. The DL44 pistol(bah, excuse the lack of knowledge on the numbers of the guns, but am referring to the pistol Han uses mostly) was based on the Mauser Pistol, am guessing they decided to do the Flash Gordon type stuff for the prequels so as to put a bit of a stamp on people from creating (and selling) their own 'replicas' or something like that *shrug* of course it does make it kind of silly though when you have Leia's mum running around with an "Ascension Gun" something no doubt Leia could've found a use for when running around on Cloud City or when taken by the Ewoks... or of course when her and Luke were standing at that chasm in the Death Star...
Luke "Oh looks like I blew it"
Leia "No matter, I have an ascension gun hidden under this skirt strapped to my leg... that was given to me by my father who says it belonged to my mother..."
Luke "How come they (Imperials) didn't find it?"
Leia "They are weak minded and I told them 'There's nothing to find under my skirt' whilst waving my hand in front of them, and they didn't seem to agree with me"

Er wasn't she wearing pants?
And if so, would Luke be suspicious of the bulge in her pants. And would prolly explain the double take he did as he entered the detention cell.![]()
