Man as a Ranger Rifleman I love this Cover idea.. I wonder if they will link it to Ranger Camo so that if Camo and uncover you are even Harder to see.

camo should be harder to see but not as much defense as a "take cover" would have since ranger isnt a "soldier attack" proffession and more like a tracker thing...but it should do something like that

Sad part is, the profession that specialises in concealed movement and hiding one's apearance doesnt get a stealth skill whilst others do. You should of seen the discussions we all had in the cu boards about this. Ranger WILL get stealth abilities one day, im sure of it, but i expect those to come in our revamp unfortunatly, so yes this is a temp nerf to rangers (what a suprise there eh?).

Cover should be a basic skills and Rangers should have a whole range of stealth ablities at their disposal that allow free movement, ambush opportunities and extraction techniques. Stealth is at the core of ranger and there it should remain. For the sake of making rifleman work as a profession and its role, a basic and very restrictive stealth ability is required and ok. But the powerfull stealth abilities should come from ranger and thats it.

If by what you mean is that Rifleman should get a limited use cover. i.e. slow or no movement, but it has ranged defesive mods built in, and Ranger get's a /conceal that allows them free movement (or close to it) w/o the defensive mods. I 100% agree...

What good is cover if you're only 35m away to shoot at someone?

Yup, well more or less yes. Rifleman cover like you said, big ranged defenses and movement restrictions, but ranger needs a portfolio of stealth skills in in 3 areas, personal stealth (the one you said, run around stealthed), ambush tactics (time restriction non-break stealth) and extraction techniques (situation restrictive escape stealth).

All 3 are covered here in the Ranger 2.0 document. As me and waste have discussed at great legnth before, ideally riflemen wouldnt need to have personal stealth to perform their actions but the game systems dictate that in order to be sneaky in swg you need to be invis and removed from radar so im ok with a basic personal stealth/defensive ability beinggiven to rifleman. That is, just as long as the personal concealment specialists (rangers) also get their love andtheir stealth skill set.

/cover works well too. We have been testing it today.

@bap

hey you are testing skills you can not possibly have yet!

be kind and really test the newb levels out

I have to admit the difference from 1004 to 2004 is pretty nice and 2004 to 3004 in rifleman is a huge difference in damage output.

35m = 114.8294 feet, or roughly 1/3 the length of a football field

So when you think about it that way yes you could be under cover and not seen from 35 m

To go prone at 35m isn't very far when they do come rushing though.I was just really looking forward more than any other CURB feature to having ranges increased.

the weapon that has that rangeis a pop gun. the more you move up in levels the greater the range (Unlike the poor pistoleers who cap out at 35m)
