since 99% of the mobs in this game use melee attacks they need to get rid of the 2.5x dmg penalty to melee attacks that we face....Isnt a rifleman punished enough at close range with the really low accuracy ?
Its sad that the only way to gain xp without perma getting incapped is to use a pet...
My first holo told me to master swordsman, and at master i could solo force sensitive NPCs,Graul Maulers etc standing toe to toe.....WITHOUT a pet (easy as also a master doc+intimidate+warcry).

Well, but i think rifleman has some potential in PvP, so im looking forward to try this profession there(Swordsman was awesome in PvP).

I didn't want to hear (read) what should be changed or what is bad about beeing Rifleman, i even didn't want to hear that Master-Rifleman is so cool.

What i wanted to hear (even although i didn't start this thread) were your tactics of getting XPs, a list of non-BAF-Critters, good Lairs, Planets or something like that.
I bet the same will be interesting to absolute noobs (as i play as novice rifleman for 3 weeks now i would say i'm still a noob-rifleman, but not an absolute noob as i managed to get some tactics without pets).

So please: any ideas and/or tactics ?

here's my formula for mastering ANY combat skill:

equip the appropriate weapon. attack a critter. don't die.

repeat as necessary.

c'mon, kids, it's not that hard. if you want the xp, WORK for it. if you're just looking to pull master NOW, start looking on eBay, not these forums.

that said, I've heard rumors that /conceal may actually be useful sometime in the future. I have seen it used successfully on kimos... but warping mobs can be VERY bad. the best way I've seen to make a lot of xp is to group up, and work as a team. no single profession can do everything well. we, for example, can't take melee hits, so... don't get hit in melee! (after the update) we will have a ranged defense of +70, and cover... so take on NPC's when you can... if they can't hit you, and you can hit them, you survive and (as mentioned above) get xp towards mastering a combat skill.

Sadly, if the objective is to get to Master Rifleman as fast as possible, I think the best plan is to get a high level in CH until you get those unbalanced pets, let them tank, then start working on Rifleman, when you hit Master, surrender the CH you don't need (exchange CH with imperial ATST if you want). It's kinda stupid, but I believe leveling CH first and then Rifleman (or both at the same time, but with focus on CH) will get you to Master Rifleman faster than if you concentrate on Rifleman alone.

Of course, this might change with the next patch...

As for the solo people:

I like hunting on dant. Lots of those real big things (Bols, pikets, etc). Don't worry about doing missions. For the lair not to respawn creatures, you have to stay in a certain range, which is not possible when you try to pull or have to run. Don't worry about the mission. Do groups or artisan surevey missions if you need money.

Most non-mission and low-level mission spawns will have the lair and 2 or 3 of those big things. Find one with 2. Now what you want to do is just fight one. Currently the BAF system is broken, so even while the target might ignore your attack, the others will assist him. You can use this to your advantage: Hit one MOB with conceal shot (or with a trap and hope you miss). Now this counts as an attack, but in most cases the current target will ignore you. The other MOB however will get into combat mode and attack you. Get up, run away and let the second MOB follow you. Just run 30 meters, and you have a single target you can take down however you want. (Similar technique can be used with pets for pulling). this will only work until this gets fixed in the next patch.

I think you holocrons guys suck ass for the way you are so proud of your borderline exploiting. I hope the holocrons are fake, and I definately hope none of you ever become a jedi.
And the riflemen giving them tips on how to level even faster should also burn in hell.

That's my opinion.

Just because i don't choose to use a pet to lvl doesn't mean i have any right to slag off those who do, just a thought....

Not on the boards....the moderators regularly delete\edit messages. Not yours specifically...but don't think that you have free speech here.

I am really a major casual player (less than a few hours every WEEK) and a SW purist, so I will never be pulling a P-EE-K-A-CH-U from my pocket, so my formula for Rifle XP has been simple...

Shoot anything /conned white and an occasional yellow

This really helps determine fighting styles for different creatures and makes it easy to hunt the ones that don't 'pack-attack' (Is that what the acronym BAF refers to?)

I just got to Novice Rifleman this week after maybe two months of playing, so I have no real sympathy for your dilemma of making Master Rifleman in two or three days. BTW, when wasthe last time you left the house?

As the title of the thread looked extremely interesting to me, i think there is no answer on that question till now (how to get XPs fast without a pet), cause an AT-ST works like a pet (tanking) for me.

I'm not imperial, and i don't use pets either - so again the question: how to get XPs in this galaxy of BAF-Critters.

I'm 1-0-2-1 Rifleman atm, and it took me a month till now.
The only sugestion i can make is (till you get flushing2, i thiunk then the strategy has to change).

Find a critter-race thats non-BAF and relatively slow.
Prone, HS2, MS2, MS1, run and keep alive till it bleeds to death (or try using warningshot if the creature is vurnable to this).

I looked around on planets like Datooine and Yavin4, but it's really like suicide. On Naboo you have to walk very far to get critters. The best Planet seemed Tatooine - You dont get missions with High-XP-Critters, but in the mountains, with a bit of luck, you'll find some non-BAF creatures like shown below:

- Mountain-Worrts : Very slow, something about 5000 Mind and give you about 1500-2000 XPs
- Mountain-Squills: Fast, mostly something about 10000 Mind, but if you can bleed them to death while getting incapped and so get about 4000 XP each (just the steady incap is a bit frustrating)
- Mount (or was ist Rock ?) Beetles: something about 2000 Mind, just give about 400-500 XP, but mostly found in big groups, so you can get about 3000-6000 XP a lair without Risk and in relatively slow time.

If anyone has a list of non-BAF-Critters or good planets/places to get better XP - PLEASE POST !! I need hours to get XP, as i only get about 7500 XPs per hour with this strategy.

it gets even harder to get xp as you advance in rifleman. ive been one for about 3 weeks now, at 4033. feral banthas i used to be able to oneshot with hs3 for 1100xp at 4002. now, im lucky to get 300. for the xp gains, get a tka to go with you to dathomir, or join a krayt hunting group and just fire away.4500+xp per krayt, regardless of size. one krayt every 5 minutes. lots of xp.

No pets, No tricks, and using a Broken special.

go find pikets on dantooine, males will group agro, so find a lare that only spawns 1 at a time, conceal shot him to death, then conceal shot the females. muon gold helps if your impatient.

oh, and if you miss and it attacks? bust out spray stick and spam headshot2 or 3, you can do that on gold

pets are for those without courage or honor. unless of course your krayt hunting with no more than 2 grauls.
