From what I have seen block is a melee defense. If a melee person is charging you, your toon will dive/roll out of the way. Pikeman also have block and will have a very very big boost in it. So now rifleman will have a little help vs melee but I hope they do more they just see the toon dive, seems like that would slow down combat for you and make you an easier target to get hit.

I too have seen NPCs +block+ my shots (ranged shots mind you) so Id reckonits somewhat similar to counter attack. Problem is OUR block is broken whereas the NPC block is not, which explains why you havent seen anyone block in PvP.

Hmmm, I was prone fighting stuff last night when all of the sudden I did a barrel roll. I was too busy to see what it was. I wonder if it was block or somthing.
