Look up Silverlobo's template, that is very interesting. I am actually using a modified version of it. It stresses defense over anything else, and in the actualy one he has posted it stressed knockdown defense, which isnt as big a priority now as it was then, it was before kd changes. So you can modify that to pick up extra ranged and melee defense. With the new defense mods coming *crosses fingers and prays* you can have some insane defense.

I just hit Master Rifleman, here is what I am doing to round out my char.

TKA 0/4/0/4
Fencer 0/4/0/0

This will give me some great defensive bonuses.

well, i'm finishing up my stat migration to all mind, in preperation for my upcoming selfbuffs (doing doctor).

i wanted to be the best **edit** rifleman i could possibly, and i think i've managed to eliminate the most obvious weaknesses at the same time. (though, this is arguable).

i'm Master Marksman, Master Rifle, and just getting doctor now, but will be something like 1-2-4-0 doctor.

(i have a master doctor in my guild who can make buffs for me

i'll be able to wear good armor all the time, and insane armor on muon gold for special occassions. should be able to spam strafe2 for quite a bit longer than without the doctor stat migration. and i'll get to keep master marksman for that extra little speed kick which i love. (you also get slightly more defense and aiming, though not a whole lot).

defenses and powerboost in the TKA line are awesome though. but i wanted to stay strictly ranged and be able to wear armor all the time. nevermind being able to buff yoruself to over 2k health and action/secondaries. that's a huge advantage.

downside to MM/MS/doctor? no skill points for anything - . no skill points for scout, so no harvesting or running fast up-hill (which i'm going to hate). no skill points for CH pets. but i will be able to buff my wrix or gurrek, so that helps with the warping

but i should have loads of fun PvP..i suspect i will be tough to bring down (hope so anyways

some of you have already gone doctor/master rifle. but i doubt many have sacrificed the skill points for Marksman... hehe

With those kinds of defenses, your character better do some Matrix moves.

My template is very close to that selfyn, I will post it and all the defenses associated with it when I get home(at work now). The big difference is I took two-handed defense and some fencer instead of pistols and ranged support, althoughI am using ranged support untilI hit master.

I personally like Rifleman/ranger, for strange and odd, not completely understood even by me reasons. Of course, considering I have another character that's a Chef/Architect, and I used to play a nightshade and an Animist in DAoC and an Enchanter in EQ, I think it's safe to say that I like the challenge (or maybe... I just like severely underpowered classes that people outside of that class still *swear* is overpowered or at least balanced)

I myself am also a Rifleman and Ranger.

You cannot beat AreaTrack in PvP. You know where they are when they are still 400m away from you. You can set up Ambush and attack from a distance.

You can scan the area for PvE and take your pick. There is also word that Rangers will be given lures that will lure a MOB away from the group. Our Traps slow the MOBs down so that we can keep our distance.

Rifleman/Ranger in my opinion is the best combination.

Ok my template as is right now:

medic - 0000

brawler - 4440

marksman - 4000

swordsman - 0040

fencer - 4400

TKA - 0304

Master Rifleman

This gives me:

Ranged D - 196

Melee D - 184

Knockdown D - 85

Dizzy D - 15

Posture Change up - 30

Posture Change down - 90

Block - 80

Blind - 20

Stun - 25

Counterattack - 75

Dodge - 30

Plus a defense acuity which basically boosts dodge, block, counterattack, but I didnt write it down. This is of course with the new mods on Test Center right now. Which there is also the center of being for melee, which increases your range and melee d for a set period of time.

I was playing around witha character builder while checking the new stats on TC and I came up with this:

Novice medic, Marksman 4/4/0/3, MRM, TKA 0/0/0/4, Pistoleer 0/0/4/0, Fencer 4/4/0/0.

This gives the following defensive bonuses:

Ranged192, Melee171, Stun 50, Blind 50, Dizzy 50, Knockdown 100, Posture Down 70, Block 80 and Dodge 40.

If you have access to doctor buffs as well this I would think this would be amazingly powerful. If you only PvE you could maybe drop the knockdown and get about 100 extra dodge. Or another idea would be to drop the pistoleer part and take up TKA power boost tree and the fencer dodge bonuses.

I might try this on an alt when the UK based servers open.
