If this is the case that will be another deficiency to add to poor Pikeman. I will do some tests next time I play though to see if this is correct, because I kind of doubt it. If they allow Dodge and Counterattack on ranged attacks, then I can't imagine they would disallow it for block, especially considering how much worse block is than the other 2. You guys should check out a thread on the Pikeman boards called "Melee Defense Calculations". It has some real eye-opening numbers about the different defenses and how bad Pikeman have it in that department, mostly because of block, but also because of such low toughness.

Okay I guess block does work on range. From what I read I really didnt think it was going to but after aorund 5 billion shots I think I blocked a pistol shot right before mob started to unarmed attack me. But melee Im blocking so much its fun I get spamed with block in spec now and stop complaing about no vision of you blocking we dont whant to get stuck to the ground like dodge does that would be bad.

Ya I also just blocked a Ranged Attack, I think if you have more Ranged Defence then Block, you are more likely to have a miss then a block......

Not really sure on the mechanics of defence though, I could be wrong.
