grrr... does out corrospondant really not know how this works? there's an entire thread on it. Damage is calculated as follows:

Base * Special modifer * (mitigation to do armor, or special mitigation like synth steak.)

Base is a number between your minimum and maximum damage, where it falls is determined by your accuracy versus your targets defense. against most PvE targets you will hit your max quite quickly, in PvP this is not the case. The reason the damage you did varied was because the attack you used varied, and the defense of the mobs varied. You can cap your base, but that does not nullify the special modifer, Critical shot will always hit for more than ranged shot no matter what. There's a thread with the exacty forumal, and an excel sheet that will calculate the damage dealt in any situation, but i don't have it bookmarked... maybe our coorspondant can at least find that for you. =/

I know how it works. And after testing it is the resistances of the animals creating the difference. The shooter is hitting cap on the weapon due to low defenses.

AxilX - do you mean this thread?

The problem is that his spread sheet still does not work 100% it is a great approximation though

After more testing, what Ax states does seem to be the case.

The weapon you use has a sliding scale between min-max damage. The more accuracy you can stack will slide the scale towards the maximum end of the weapons damage. That explains why fighting plain jane mobs causes damage to .. max out .. Low defenses and combat level put the scale at darn near max damage for your weapon, so adding pyro or aim has very little damage increase due to diminishing returns.

Fighting Black Sun mobs on Endor showed quite a different result. They are already combat level 88 .. that's 8 levels above me and have high defenses. Using pyro alone shot my damage up almost 100 points. Adding Impoved Aim shot it up almost 100 more points .. so this proves how added accuracy shifts the scale towards the high end of the weapon.

So added accuracy will help you when fighting opponents with high defenses .. but you will see very little if fighting someone with low defenses.

Thanks everyone for shedding more light on this for me.
