Thread: What rifle to use??
Let's not forget that faster shooting = faster HAM drain - that's why I like damage slices..

I belive that the Imperial stocks you get from doing the Imp Themepark add no HAM costs. Might be worth it.
True. They dont. My weaponsmith has made several rifles AND carbines using them. But the Mind HAM cost is the main factor. If you see a 410-420 rifle with 80-90 Mind cost, grab it. Odds are it was made with a theme park Form-Fitted Stock.
And as for dancer buffs.. go for them if you PVP. If you mainly PVE or are training up, very few things hit the mind.

deffintly get a t21, either sort of slice works fine, imo. the heavy armor piercing makes all the difference.
Given two slices (one damage and one speed) at the same percent change, you will find that the average damage per second (DPS) increase for either slice is exactly the same. That is, an 35% damage slice will raise the DPS by 35% by raising the average damage 35% over the same time frame. On the other hand, the 35% speed slice will raise the DPS by 35% by hitting for the current average damage 35% more often. Thus, it is a matter of taste as to whether you want hit 35% harder per hit or 35% faster. This changes, however, when you hit the speed cap. Additional weapon speed will not affect the DPS when you hit the cap because you cannot fire faster than 1 shot per second no matter what. At that point, you want damage slices.
However, powerups are a little different. Again, once you hit the speed cap, only go with damage powerups because more speed will not change anything. But before you cap, speed is better. A 33% speed powerup will raise your DPS by 33%. A 33% max damage powerup will only raise the DPS by about 25% and even a 33% Max damage/ 16% Min damage powerup will only raise your DPS by about 29%. So until you cap, the Speed powerup actually gives you the highest DPS.
Power ups aside
You forget about accuracy. At master you are 110% correct, but at novice there is one more thing to consider. At novice you aren't hitting all that often, so a faster rifle would allow you to shoot more shots in the time it takes a mob to go from where it is, to you, and this would turn into more damage.
