Yeah, it is from "Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy," specifically, from "Life, the Universe, and Everything," the second or third book of the (last I checked) five book "trilogy."

For those who have not read any of the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxies books, Douglas Adams, the author, is very Monty Pythonish in his humor. In "Life, the Universe, and Everything," one of the subplots of the book is that a race of beings on some planet somewhere in the universe decide they want to figure out "the ultimate answer to the ultimate question about life, the universe, and everything." They expend tremendous effort to build a super computer to compute the answer for them. It takes thousands of years to compute the answer, and when their descendents gather to finally get "the ultimate answer to the ultimate question about life, the universe, and everything," the computer responds, "42." They are confused, so they ask it, "then what was the question," and it informs them it will take several thousand more years to compute that.

So, for all the difficult questions in life, the answer is always "42."

Case of Muon Gold to beamstalk for getting it completely right. 4/5 of a case of Muon Gold to Shrik for having it right, but being a little off on the name, and 1/5 of a case to Wayne for recognizing the reference, but not knowing where it came from (after all, it was a pretty obscure reference).

I like it. We can tell the Storm Troupers looking for contraband that it is something to help us kick the habit.

Actually i only got it partly right, because i was half asleep at work

but anyways they actually had to build a new computer to get the question, and that computer was Earth

the creatures who did this appeared in this dimension as white lab rats

oh well great series of books, even though i havent read Mostly Harmless, just cant get into it like the original three, oh and if you can find the BBC TV adaptation of it, it follows the book perfectly from what i have seen of it

also if i remember right the question is what is 6 times 7

Heh, I just got released from the spice mines at Kessel. The storm trooperscame in here slaped all my Reb rifleman brothers on the wrist and proceeded to arrest all the Imp Riflemen. We got sentanced to one week in Kessel Hard labor(Got out early for good behavior), the Rebels got a 20 cedit fine and a warning. I never knew the Empire was cracking down on Corrupt Imperial officers.

Oh well, wheres the moun? I got over 500 extra FP and need a hit.

I just got my kicks on Muon..... doing Image Designing! stupid grind. Oh well, it's easy to find master (or high level) IDs and tell them if they let me practic eon them, they can train me for AXP.

Anyways, yes, the question is 6 x 7. Oddly enough, if you calculate that out with a base-13 numbering system, you get 42. Is Douglas Adams trying to tell us the Universe is built upon 13, the unluckiest number ever? Reading his books, that might work...

I just took out a whole imperial detachment hq with crappy buffs solo. Even the AT-ST. All thanks to the wonderful world of bugs. After about the 5th stormy I killed with AoEs it started acting as if I was shooting all the corpses aswell only since they were all corpses it sent all the dmg to whatever I had targeted. I killed almost everything in 1 shot and the At-St only took 10 shots.

Hmm... I had a similar AoE problem with my 2h Sword attacks, so I guess it ain't just rifles. Only problem was, it was delivering ALL the damage to one target (no AoE).

I guess that's great when you're going after an AT-ST... less great when you justblew the hell out of a nest full of rot mites - **edit**, those things are FAST

Oh, BTW - on my way in, I noticed some really blissed-out-looking rats climbing out of your drains... you guys might wanna get the exterminators in...
