Thread: Trying to decide on a PvE build

I'm trying to make up my mind between Fencer and Sword to go with Rifle. All I'm really interested in at this point is PvE, and beause I play at odd times the better I can solo the better I'll like it.

Suggestions?

THANKS!

Master Rifleman
4304 TK
0010 Smuggler
2040 Medic
Novice Fencer or Fencer 1000 to cap defenses

and

Master Rifleman
4304 TK
0010 Smuggler
0040 Pistoleer
3040 Medic (can't do much else with the remaining four SP but buy FA3 or Ranged Support 1 for /aim)

The latter is more geared towards PvP with the enhanced state defenses. Feign Death isn't as cheap if you use it against PvE targets.

well, if u want to solo things, go all out melee. Drop riffleman, and master swordsman, with defence lines from either tka or fencer. And a little medic will go a LONG way

Pure swordsman is awful for high-value PvE. Sure, you can take down an Elder (in 15-20 minutes), but you're usually screwed when she starts to warp.

Master Rifleman/Master Swordsman is used by some of the biggest and best loot hunters on my server. With mastery in these two professions, you can solo most anything in the game. Fencer is only really good for defenses, as a Rifleman can already dish out stun damage, and can usually do it better than a Fencer. I think a Rifleman/Fencer is more geared toward PvP than PvE. Also, grab the Techniques line of Pistoleer, and/or Medic if you have the points left over. A template like this will allow you take down most of the high-level mobs in the game as it will grant you a wide variety of damage types, great offensive power, and modest defenses, plus if you have medic, you can heal with yourself with Stim Bs. Just my opinion onthe issue.

Id say definetly get the meditate from TK, and why not defenses as it saves points. Swordsman is a powerhouse for PVE damage, make sure youre equip with both a scythe and a PH at all times though, and master brawler is a nice addition with intim2 and war2. Dragon's got a nice template there. The only thing I would consider changes is maybe just novice medic, but get some fencer defenses. Just depends on if you want to be able to heal, or take less damage. I personally am fine with my Stim B's that heal for 600 with a med shirt.

Thanks, this sure gives me a lot to think about.

It seems no one mentions Fencer much in relation to PvE combo's so I can at least drop that from the Master list.

Everyone here says drop Rifle, while Rifle types say keep Sword. I wonder why that is? A lot of what I read is about Rifle / Sword so I'm just curious.

Thanks again for all the responses.

Thanks for all the replies.

I'm also discussing this in the Swordsman board. Both boards down play Fencer for PvE, but Swordsman pretty much all say to drop Rifle. (Personally I like shooting things. :} )

But am wondering about the trade offs. I've had my playing time somewhat limited due to some health issues, so I'm trying to make this the best build I can as I don't know if I'll get the time to re-do much of it.

Thanks again!
