Thread: Best Armor combo for Rifleman???

I think it is a general consensus that anyone using a rifle as their primary weapon can't wear a full armor suit. That being said, what is the best combination of amor pieces? Gloves, chest and boots.....etc?

What 2-4 set combo will best allow our mind to regenerate fast and will also give us adequate protection if something gets to close or melees us.

Thanks

Where are you primarily finding those socketted stuff items you speak of? I know they fall off of humanoids but on vaclyn I havent' been fortunate enough to find any. Any tips on planets, cetrain mobs..etc. Thanks Flood....

This isn't changing the thread topic...I'd still like to know that info.

The helm has a high mind pool penalty.

I wear a full suit of Ubese minus the helmet too.

Yes, this makes you sniper bait... that just means you have to be the better sniper.

Most Ubese (unsliced) Helmets have a 210 mind encumberance on them... couple with the 120 or so mind encumberance you get from the rest of the suit, you're looking at -350ish to your secondary mind stats. Headshot costs more, and you regen slower. Try it sometime with the helmet on, and then off. PvE the helmet always stays off. Single Target PvP, helmet on. Multiple target PvP, Helmet off.

I just wear custom tailored clothes. All white with a black shirt. Kinda look like a medic. After using armor for a while, I have just found that the HAM costs from wearing armor are just too high. My mind pool does not regen fast enough.

Also, I found that some armor is terrible for melee defense. This is another reason I dont wear armor. I wear no armor, and it seems I am better protected from melee damage.

Right now, I am looking to get a good helm. Nothing stupid looking. I have to do some research, but wut I would really like to wear is a Composite Armor Helm. I think that it looks cool, but to be honest, I dont know if it would be much good in a fire fight. Dont know the stats on it.

I had chitin and ended up selling it and going the plain clothes route because it doesn't mean so much down time for my mind to regenerate.

Would a full suit of ubuse make me a better rifleman? Will it help me get xp quicker by being able to stay alive while fighting bigger mobs? Is it worth it?

Most of the conversation I've heard is that if you are PvE then it isn't worth it. I'd love to here more conversation on this topic.

Well... Melee Damage is what murders us with the 2.5(or is it 2.0, I cant remember) melee damage mult. we take. If you can't kill what you're shooting at before it catches you, a lot of times you'll be dead in 4 hits or less with the rifle on.

Ubese is a nice mostly-melee protection armor.

I however dont wear it ALL the time, I just wear it sometimes. I defeinitely take more abuse while wearing it, but my period of using consecutive headshots is much shorter. It's a tradeoff.

If it takes too long to regen in armor take it off, you can make a macro that takes all of it off and puts it back on.

Anytime I see something screech across a room and latch onto someones neck, and the guy screams and tries to get it off, I have to laugh, because what is that thing.

when i PVP another rifleman, i wear regular clothes and a padded helmet. it hurts a **edit**load to wear it, but hten i can take his headshots and still live to deal out another headshot to finish him. it hurts your mind more, but you have a MUCH higher chance to live.

of course this is only when PVP'ing another sharpshooter.
