Thread: CU/R/B Tester Opening

Well we lost one of our CU/R/B testers. So we now have one opening for a tester and one for a backup.


This is going to be a full time testing. There is going to be a lot of work to do. Once the sandbox goes up you'll be expected to test and spend most if not all your time on that server. I'm also assigning the testers areas of responsibilities and you will be expected to report in that regard and devise any specific tests that may be needed.


And you get to do all this while not being able to discuss it with anyone outside of the testing group. No telling guild members or friends since you will be under a Non Disclosure Agreement (NDA).


If you are interested send me a PM with the following info. Title the PM Rifle Volunteer.


  • Station and Forum name ** DO NOT SEND PASSWORDS **

  • Age and Occupation

  • How much time you can spend a week testing

  • Why do you want to be a tester - This is basically a job interview. You have to sell yourself to me.

I will not announce whom was selected. I'm keeping the testers names confidental. The testers can identify themselves if they wish. Though they can not identify the others. We are on a short timeline here so I will close the entries on 01/10/05.


I've seen a lot of new names around here thathave been contributing. Best of luck to everyone that applies.

I would like to apply because i have been rifleman since last december non stop i have seen every trick . I have used and been hit wiht every type of rifle . I have seen a lot of exploits to and from rifle . I have seen mrifle tear people up and i have seen them get beaten horribley. My station name is Jedi280 my forum name is jedi280 .

I am 18 i am a full time student . I play about 6-7 hours a day . I can devote every hour ihave to testing . I have read every post concerning rifleman and what they will recieve .

Waste on 8/30/2004 you sent me the following as a reply from my original application for the CU

Thanx for your interest in the Rifleman Volunteer positions for the sandbox server.
Unfortunately I was only able to select five. I would like to keep you listed as an alternate incase something does come up.
Also if you are still interested in testing the revamp early. The revamp will also be on Test Center. So you can make a character there and test it there also.
Thanx again for your interest.


I am still very interested in this position. I will re-forward you my initial application. Please advise me of your decision.

Yes. However we've also seen a large number of new contributors and some that initially applied have since left. So it made sense to reopen the application to see who was still interested.

That is a definite consideration. I'm looking for specific characteristics when I look over the apps and I have specifics tasks in mind for them to do. I also look at random posts they've made prior.


I'm not releasing the testers names to help avoid them getting pestered with CU/R/B questions from friends, guildmates, etc. I know most others haven't done this. I may be the only one. But I'm asking that everyone here trust my judgement in pickingthe testers.


Thanx again to everyone for the patience in this. Still no ETA on the sandbox but I suspect (not based on any official word) that it will be this month. The holidays likely delayed things a bit, but the CU/R/B is the main focus and we should start testing soon.


As soon as I have info that I can share I will and it will be stickied.

Well the holidays and the fact that they're alreadywriting some of our input into code. Just goes to show how devoted they are to making this what everyone wants and hopes it will be. And yeah I've got a feeling we'll either get told by TH this week when it is or start dowloading it this week...or the next....or the next


And for the list, you did a fine choice in selecting but giving out their name probably wouldn't be too bad. I bring up how I'm in Alpha whenever it isn't stupid to do so because I'm damn proud Pappi picked me of all people to go in there (I mean hell it's in my PA tag) and I hardly ever get prodded for info.

Im a devouted player with lots of time to kill (being a loser and all ). So keep my application in mind.
