Thread: What profession best accompanies Master Rifleman?

I respec'ed a while back to Master Rifleman/ Master Carbineer / Master Marksman with whatever skill points left over to BH. While Master Rifleman/ Master Carbineer is nice for FS grinding (1.2 million xp caps for rifle and carbines, and 350k xp cap for Combat), Master Carbineer does not complement Master Rifleman at all! (I know, I know, I'm an idiot for doing that.)

So I am dropping Master Carbineer (and probably whatever I don't need in Master Marksman - Lethal Shot is worthless). But what else should I pick up?I am currently CL80 and would very much like to keep it that way. Folks online have suggested Master BH - lots of nice special attacks. I've also thought about giving Ranger a try, but some have said it is currently broken. Thoughts or suggestions?

Ranger is getting completely revamped soon, and is getting LOTS of cool goodies. Carbineer 0/4/0/0 complements rifleman very well, gives you a decent snare and a really nice damage shot to alternate with headshot. Intimidate shot from pistoleer is wicked, put rest of points into healing

I play a hunter and I find my template is very useful in this role.

MRifle

Ranger 0-0-3-0

Doctor 0-0-0-0

With this I can heal my wounds out in the field. The ranger part is for tracking though I do not use it all that often. This may not be good for grinding but it is a good roleplaying temp.

really... The best profession to complement rifleman is the one you feel mostcomfortable using. If you like

:support roles -doc, sl

:front line troop - BH, Carbineer, Pistoleer (and not commando T_T)

:jedi hunter - BH + 4000cm

:annoyance in pvp - Smuggler, CM

:Crazy - Ranger, CH

:jack of all master of none: Melee

etc...

Basically you should find what you like to do and stick with it - FOTM is so lame.

To compliment Master Rifleman, either getting Carbineer or Pistoleer is a good fit.

Master Rifleman does not give target control or area attacks. Carbineer and Pistoleer provide these abilities.

Carbineer provides:
- Better, wider area attacks, one of which is an area snare (Full Auto Areas, Suppression Fires). Imagine doing Impr.Full Auto Area with its wide cone with your T21 / ALR.
- A good ranged KD but it has a "charge animation" (Charge Shots).
- The best ranged attack snare in the game (Crippling Shots).
- Good damage output (as a Master Carbineer) and a good damage special (Impr.Leg Shot).
- With Master Carbineer, balanced defenses.

Pistoleer provides:
- Increased defenses, mostly in Melee Defense.
- Narrow Cone Attack (Fan Shots)
- Stopping Shots to keep the target in place for a very short duration.
- Intimidate Shot for target damage output reduction (useful, IMO)
- Warning Shot!
- Burst Shot to Stun!
- Better Ranged Weapon / Melee KD (Impr.Firearm Strike)

I personally love Carbineer since its more balanced with target control and damage output. Pistoleer provides more target control and defenses. Which goes together with your template depends on what you feel comfortable with.

I respec'd to carbineer also. I happen to like it a lot. I like the areas and the damage. I will never give up rifles. So it was a good choice for me. To each his own and as Ackehece said, whatever you enjoy is what's best. )

I went with MRifleman/MSL/MMarksman/Pistols0003

Not a great PVP template but it's a great solo group PVE template and keeps me out of most trouble while solo. Plus I had to have the Dawnsorrow Rifle. With it's mods, a good slice, and a nice pup, she is a great PVE weapon

gunna give that onea try, sounds great. i'd have to drop carbines x44x so no more KD or high damage leg shot but who cares when i can be perminantly speed buffed! the way i see it i get:

- head/leg shot @ x1.8 or x1.9 damage

- head/startle shot @ x1.8 or x1.5 damage + speed buff

and i can buff my mind - to support the CM heals, cure wounds and the buff action to help with the extra action use as i'm firing faster. damn like your idea

Anyway, BH is a really good, prolly the best, profession right now to go with any weapon elite prof. Simply because Jedi's and BH's are the two professions that has gotten the most attention post CU. Problem being of course, EVERYONE* (including the devil and his aunt) is as a result a BH.

Personally, if I ever dropped CH I would try commando, get a mad ranged accuracy and some cool gizmo weapons like rocket launchers.
